I have an Acer Chromebook and love it, except for the fact that I cannot find any place on it to insert the memory card or sd card from my camera. I have tried to get an answer through google but so far haven't been able to find anything. Does anyone here have a Chromebook and know if there is a hidden place for an sd card to go? If so I sure haven't found it!

Let's start with WHICH Acer Chromebook? Model 710, model 720, etc?
Having that, should easily lead to an answer, for example, the current models (not old stock or refurbs, etc) is the 720 and 720P and here is the page on the 720 (which shows the reader):

Thanks for your reply. Mine is a C710 and I tried googling info on that and there is mention of a sd card reader, but I just don't see a place on my chromebook where it could go. And if not, WHY not?

C710, should be on the front of the unit.

If you can't find a place to insert a memory card, you must at least have a port to hook up a wireless mouse etc so you might be able to use a card reader that you put the card in it and plugs into a port. I have a samsung chromebook and it has a card slot on side. Good luck.

There is a place on the left front of the Chromebook that looks like it should be the slot, but it is covered with a hard plastic. So, maybe mine was never installed?

If it's anything like mine, you can remove the plastic insert and slide in your SD card.

Both my now older notebook (effectively a fancy netbook) and my netbook, shipped with a fake sd card in the slot. It is a piece of plastic, that both protects the slot in shipping and helps assure correct positioning in the install.

I don't want to damage anything, so how do I go about getting it out?

Treat it like an sd card. (should be able to pull it out with your fingernail)
Edit: my netbook, that required pushing in very slightly which caused it to pop out some.
my netbook, that required pushing in very slightly which caused it to pop out some. That's been my experience with these slots as well. Usually, a mild push in will release the cover and allow it to pop out.

Can't believe there wasn't mention of that in the manual showing where it should be and I just couldn't imagine there NOT being a place for an sd card. So, mystery solved thanks to you and your patient help.:thankyou:
