We finally decided to get rid of our lawn later in the year, so I went on pinterest to gather some ideas and inspiration.
omg... that site is like crack! :0! Or what I imagine crack to be. I'm spending way too much time on there instead of working on my projects - which are DUE.
Anyone else find it hard to resist?
ETA:
I put this on the consumerism thread because I can see how easy it would be to become seduced by "more" and "better." In fact, that's why I've avoided it for so long; everyone I know who uses it has "dream" boards which basically look like endless consumer orgies.
But I think it would be fun to see what SL'ers put on their boards. It would be cool to get simple and frugal inspirations. On mine, I have collections of things that I would like to do with what I have now, rather than "dreams" to buy someday.
Oh man, watergoddess....I am SUCH a sucker for Pinterest--AND Side Yards!!! Enjoyed your boards!

I haven't figured out how it works so perfectly, but every time I go there it's full of the perfect photos for my topic.
Now here's a somewhat obscure topic: Gothic gardens. Yet when I search that term on Pinterest just about every photo that displays completely captures the essence of the topic. You think I haven't tried to grow that bat flower? I've got church arches and celtic qua trefoils all over my gothic garden area. and the black plants, ohhhhh the black plants!!
I hope that the inventor of Pinterest makes some money. It's a good idea that seems very well executed.
Kay - I enjoyed your boards too! I went right to the food. That polenta with bacon, finished off with the apple dumpling...mmmm>8)
Iris - no link for your gothic gardens? I didn't even know there such things! must share!
As ya'll can see, I'm still avoiding my work. Sometimes working from home on Fridays is not a good thing.

I have a Pinterest account but never use it. I just Google "Pinterest Gothic Garden" and set the display to Image. You'll see what comes up, good stuff!
this is a great goth garden pinterest site, though:

I've tried to grow about every black flower know to mankind. What I've learned is that these require good sun exposure to develop the dark color, and that's not what I've go tin my ferny goth garden. the black aguilla (Columbine) first seduced me to love black flowers, it was so frilly and black. The black Hollyhock is probably the easiest of them to grow. Well, I've got quite a nice and reliable black iris, I think it is Before the Storm.

I love black flowers. I bought a couple of black violas once, and they reseeded but reverted to purple. I should see what's available now.
Perfect way to lose an entire afternoon.

Oh yes, Pinterest is fun! There's none of the tension of using something like Facebook, and like you said, SO much stuff!
It does start to get repetitive after a while, but boy, have I spent a lot of time on there. Here's a link to my boards:http://www.pinterest.com/gardenarian/
And I started following you guys.

Oh my gosh... the deep dark rabbit hole called Pinterest. I spend time on it every day. As an artist it is a never ending resource of inspiration. I am currently doing watercolor and have boards for color, sky, trees etc. It also has a bajillion art tutorials that have helped me with specific problems. I can lose myself for hours.

Hi simplemind - do you want to post a link to your boards? I love to see what other people are looking at, and my daughter is an artist.
Totally understand if you want to keep it private, though.
