I have a printer that I had not been using, I could hear and feel that there was still ink in both cartridges, but it would NOT print black. I dug around on the HP help pages and finally found a suggestion to put the cartridges into a ziplock baggie upside down, for at least and hour, or until you could see ink on the strips. I was skeptical but I tried it and it worked!! I am so happy that I did not give up and go buy more ink!

I bought a laser printer YEARS ago, and HIGHLY recommend them. Color is so rare for me, that it is more cost effective to get that printed out elsewhere. Toner doesn't dry up like ink and if you look carefully at lasers, you can find ones that are closely priced to the inexpensive ones, and print several times what the inexpensive ones do.
My first laser died and I bought my second one in 2012. I am still on the "sample" cartridge and know i can get rebuilds or off brands that are rated for the 8000 pages, for half the price of the name brand.
The first laser I bought, was $99 after rebate; this time through Sam's or Costco, it was the same price $99 no rebate.
