Not really financial at all but a bucket-list item: running a marathon. I finished! Along with selling the Phx house which happened in January, those were two major goals for this year! Now I get to work on finding a new job, as the current one will end this summer.

Fantastic, congratulations RosieTR.

It's motivating me to get some concrete goals of my own. I've been daydreaming about retirement within the next 2 years but since an actual day to day post-retirement life is still looking fuzzy, it's hard to put some definite To Do items down.

That's wonderful! How did you feel after the marathon?
Glad you got the house in Phx off your back. Sounds like you are way ahead of schedule all around - excellent!

Thanks! I felt similar to post-long training runs, which is to say not that good. Obviously tired and with sore legs but also a bit of a headache and low appetite/slight nausea. It was pretty hot (temps probably were approaching 80F when I finished, with not much shade on the latter part of the course) and so I tried to balance my water and electrolyte intake but probably got both a little dehydrated and a little hyponatremic (low electrolytes). This happened after every training run over half-marathon distance I did in preparation, so I also think my particular body pretty much doesn't like running those longer distances. DH also ran, and is also sore but he downed a couple of beers and was hungry after which is IMO a more "normal" reaction. Another couple of friends I have that did it were more similar to DH as well. I've done nearly marathon-distance mountain climbs before and get more like that: sore and tired but plenty of appetite and less of a lethargic/unmotivated feeling. This is why I'm planning a few mountain climbs this summer but tossed all the "make your next marathon X!" flyers that came in the goodie bag. Also, marathons are expensive! Makes the cost of gas to get into the high mountains seem pretty reasonable. But then again, I have an embarrassing amount of climbing/camping/hiking gear :) It's definitely partially a gazingus pin that I struggle with at times.:|(

Ha, ha Spartana! I hate running and haven't, once, since the marathon. :-0 However, I'm super-excited to get out on the mountain bike or maybe high in the hills on snowshoes....

Ha, ha Spartana! I hate running and haven't, once, since the marathon. :-0 However, I'm super-excited to get out on the mountain bike or maybe high in the hills on snowshoes....I always thing that running a marathon is like when a woman who just gives birth is asked if she wants more kids - "NOWAY, I will never do that again!" Then after a few months or so she's forgotten the pain and starts contemplating the next child. Lets see... you're in Co. and the Pikes Peak run is coming up in.... just enough time for you to forget about all the pain of running a marathon :-)!
