Since there's lots of experienced gardeners here, I'm hoping y'all can help me out.:help:

We have a few plants in pots so that I can move them around for seasonal interest - citrus, camellia, jasmine, etc. But the squirrel(s) keep digging in there to store their nuts and it disrupts the roots, plus they toss out a lot of the soil when they do so. I'd like to use some rock to discourage the squirrels, but not sure if I should use larger rocks - 4" - or smaller 2". My concern is damaging the plants with lack of oxygen and compressed soil. Which would you say would be the most effective deterrent without negatively affecting the plants?

Thanks!

Cayenne pepper. Sprinkle it around the soil and see if that helps. It deters them from our bird feeders.

Thanks, Kay! I'll try that.
