I tried posting the link above and was told "not found" but given alternatives.
Is this the one? http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-05-27/religion-cosnumerism
It has a typo in it.
I agree with the basic concepts. I also think the reason the average citizen hasn't taken to the streets against our corporate overlords is we typically have it so comfortable in our own homes: TV, recliners, cold air conditioning/nice warm heat, fluffy slippers, internet, etc.
When Americans went on strikes in the '30s and '40s one reason was because they had nothing left to lose. Now it's hard to get people out of their homes for a single civic meeting.
Obviously I don't want to go back to the tough times, but I think it's a factor in why our political structure is the way it is.

Thanks razz. Yep that's it. I'm sometimes not good at posting links.
But I thought the article was very thought-provoking. Entirely suitable for we simple-living types.
corporate overlords?I know....I think of Darth Vader in a suit and wingtips every time I see the phrase.

I watched most of it (ok I get bored sorry - most of it :) ). And got periodically annoyed at the pronounciation of compass :) (as in moral compass - it's quite an accent!). I mostly interpreted the "lack of moral compass" as things like buying things made under horrible conditions (like electronics in near slave labor) - but it was my interpretation. As in yes it's what is done and overlooked in society so in his terms the "religion of consumerism" and the sacrafices made in it's name.
