I want to try making dog biscuits for my dog. There are alot of recipes available online, but was wondering if any of you have made any that your dog really likes?

Sorry, no biscuit recipes. I've been making sweet potato treats for the baby. Super easy and cheap, and she thinks they're treats. Therefore they are. Good luck in your quest Cathy - anything without all those chemicals and additives has to be better for them.....

You may want to get a hold of the book "Natural Health for Dogs and Cats." There is bound to be something healthy in there...I used to go e my dogs the small jars of baby food -- and they loved the challenge of licking it out. Being vegetarian, I knew that my dogs did need meat so I would only purchase chicken or turkey. I felt it was very healthy for them. Grains
And flour are not healthy for them...
Sorry if any grammar or spelling is off, I am on a Kindle lately and they are not that great for typing....
Blackdog Lin.......how do you make the sweet potato treats?
I do give my dog a chunk of cucumber every day, and also a green bean or 2.
Thanks to both of you!

Here's the recipe I use. My dogs love these! I give them to dog lovers as gifts, too. They're very popular...
3 cups whole wheat flour
2 cups old fashioned oats
1/4 cup wheat germ (I leave this out)
1/4 cup nonfat dry milk powder
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1 1/3 cups of water
1/3 cup peanut butter
1 large egg
Adjust rack to lower third of the oven. Preheat oven to 275 degrees.
Toss the whole wheat flour, oats, wheat germ, powdered milk and garlic powder in large bowl to blend thoroughly. Blend the water, peanut butter, and egg till smooth. Add the dry ingredients and stir until well blended. (The dough will be stiff. You might find it easier to knead the mixture with your hands.) The dough will be a little moist and just slightly sticky. Roll or pat dough to a 1/2" rectangle and cut out biscuit shapes using a 3" bone shaped cookie cutter. (I slice them into biscotti shapes.) Bake for about 1 1/2 hours. For crisper, drier biscuits, bake and additional 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Yields 3 dozen.

Sure, CathyA. Let me know how they like it. I know you have chickens, so this will be cheap for you to make. I use fresh eggs, too. Sometimes I buy the oats in bulk at Costco. Dog treats in the stores can get expensive.

Sweet Potato Chews
1 medium-large sweet potato
1 tbs. olive oil
cinnamon to taste
Cut sweet potato into 1/4" lengthwise slices (or whatever size works best for your pooch). Place in bowl and drizzle then toss with olive oil. Spread in single layer on baking sheet and sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake at 250 degrees for 2 1/2 - 3 hours (we like the texture better at 2 1/2 hours). They are said to keep for up to 3 weeks in the fridge.
