I recently read, but don't recall where, about a mix of 3-4 things that are superb at killing weeds. Does anyone know it? It has Dawn dishwashing liquid in it is all I remember.

I just use boiling water.

Yes, I know the one you're talking about.. I believe vinegar is one of the ingredients.. I'll see if I can find it. It popped up on Facebook not that long ago.


Here it is:

1 Gal of White Vinegar + 1 C. Table Salt + 5-6 Tbsp of liquid Dawn Dish Soap
Mix in Watering Can…… Stir Well & Spray on the Weeds

Even simpler: I use 1 c. cider vinegar diluted with 1/2 c. water (used for small areas that DH hasn't gotten around to, or the weather hasn't cooperated with for him) and saturate the sh... heck out the area. Sidewalk, rock bed and such. Works excellently.

The only thing with using vinegar is that it may kill what is around it. We only use it in plAces where we have unlimited rocks in the landscaping...let us know what works for you...

We've used a 1 gallon vinegar with 1 oz dish soap solution to kill weeds. It works well.

I use heavy straw mulch. I love Ruth Stout's book, How To Garden Without Breaking Your Back. I also find it saves water and keeps feeding the plants. We have very hot summers, and the mulch keeps the soil cool. The plants seem much happier...

I had no idea what you were referring to so googled to find this link - http://www.jerrybaker.com/tips-and-tonics - which has some good suggestions to try.

Thanks for all suggestions. Catherine, the one you found--I really appreciate your looking it up--is the one I saw, and it was on FB I saw it--hard to find there. But I am much relieved.

He was the first one I knew that used Dawn and other "household" things. (what made me think of him) Deceased local gal believed in him, I understand from when he started out here, from throwing rocks through a greenhouse run by nun's.
