Last night I was very sleepy so I went to bed a little before 11:00 p.m. and fell asleep quickly. I must have gone into a very deep sleep because at 12:30 my cat came in the bedroom yowling and woke me up. But, here is the interesting part: I was dreaming, and it was like I had to leave that place and get back to me, or there were two of me, one in the dream and one in the bed, and they had to be back together before I could fully get awake! It was only seconds I know but was a very strange feeling, but not in a bad way. Just interesting. I can't even explain it very well. To my knowledge or remembrance this has never happened to me before and was curious if anyone else has experienced anything similar to this.

It sounds like the astral body. People who have had near death experiences describe looking down at their bodies on the operating table. They have to come back into the body to stay alive. I feel the same way in meditation. I have a floating sensation of being expanded and out of the body as I lay during deep relaxation on my yoga mat. I have to ground back into my body to finish.

I'm not sure this is quite the same thing, but.....during my recent hospitalization I had a procedure done in to remove gallstones from my duct and I was put under for this. So I come to in the recovery room and the first words out of my mouth - "Am I dying?" - seriously - everything for fifteen seconds or so seemed very vague and unreal and fuzzy. Not quite the sensation of being above my body and looking down on it but probably the closest I have come to this. I'm just glad this fifteen seconds passed and I recovered my wits. Rob
