$1.78 pizzas

Pizza is loved by all in my household but homemade pizza is not a 'spur of the moment' easy lunch to make from scratch, and costly to buy, prepared. So, I usually buy one or two to keep in the freezer when my store puts them on sale.

In Target a few weeks ago, I ran across frozen pizza on sale (any brand) buy one get one free. On top of that, a couple of brands were on sale for $3.56 each with a total limit of 10 making them 1.78 each. I bought 10 cheese pizzas.

I save small amounts of leftover meat, chicken and sausages and dice them up for toppings. I have frozen peppers and onion slices to use also. Really, just odds and ends of leftovers.

Makes a fast, lunch using leftovers in a new way for two or three for 60 to 75 cents each and no prep work for me. Yea!

I buy frozen thin-crust cheese pizzas on sale and then top them with spinach, sweet onions and chopped red pepper.

That's a great idea! You can't bet the price. I used to make my own pizza, but with this heat, I haven't been doing it. I think I'm going to do what you two are doing. The closest I've come to that is using coupons at Round Table...

This might not be cheap, but its good. DD is a vegan and I wanted her to have pizza on our usual Friday pizza night when she visited, so I bought some brown rice tortilla shells and put pizza sauce, spinach, onion, pepper, etc. on them and put them directly on the rack in the oven and they toasted up so nice and crispy and yummy. I can't seem to do that with regular flour tortilla shells because they sort of collapse between the grills in the oven. I can't remember how much they cost though. You could probably use flour or corn tortillas on a baking sheet.

Jody, there is not any way that pizza could be made from scratch for the price you paid. Good on ya. I do not have freezer room, so your idea, Cathy makes for a great pizza meal for me just about any time.

Just saw this thread. I love pizza!!!! Usually make homemade sourdough crust, but as someone else said - it is time consuming. I jealous of the great sale! Will have to keep eyes open. We have also used tortillas, etc. as crust and I love those too. Hmmm... maybe tomorrow will be pizza night!
