View Full Version : Question about how Amazon works

I've realized that their prices can go up and down all day long.
Is there a place to look that tells you what the price was for a few days, rather than having to write it all down, so you can see how low it is capable of going?
I'm really surprised how often their prices fluctuate, just in the course of a day.

For individual items and for the sellers of those specific items... there is an option they can use when listing their item. This option is a price adjuster which will automatically drop prices back and forth to the specific price set by that specific seller. This is why the prices can change dramatically or just a little or not at all.

Hope that helps and makes sense.

My Dd says that if you put your items in a pending or/shopping cart of items you are thinking about buying,
they will send you an email notice when items go up or down.
She seems to use this all the time. I don't shop Amazon but, she seems to get some really good deals on DVD/books this way.

I've never received an email showing they have gone up or down, I've had to manually go to my cart to see that.
I know there is at least one site (think it is FrozenWarrior) that you could do some searching on and watch for the price to drop. I thought there was another that might do similar (camelcamelcamel), but I haven't seen the bargains there were years ago. Now it is work stuff, sometimes books (tend to buy used) and stuff that is average or better then average price, but not readily available locally.

Another thing about AMazon - I use Amazon Smile (http://smile.amazon.com/about), which donates a small amount of the purchase price to the charity of your choice. It's worth taking a look at.
