Today I spent a lot of time on the home and garden. I watered the front cottage garden and fed the flowers homemade compost/manure tea. I cleaned the bathroom and took some photos of the "new" tile to show my parents when I see them. I dusted and vacuumed my bedroom. I've been concentrating on cleaning at least one room a day, and it's keeping everything doable and looking nice. I listened to the soundtrack of Wicked while I mended my bath towels. (I'm auditioning for Wicked next week.) I'm hand sewing on some blanket binding on the edge of the towels. I got it with a 49% off coupon at Beverly's. This will extend their life for several years, and save me money. They're Laura Ashley towels that I bought at T.J. Maxx many years ago.
How about you? What kind of work did you do in your home today to make it a nicer, cleaner living space?
Didn't do a thing in my house today except make my bed and make a lime yogurt cream pie for this evening. But, I did meet a friend from my childhood for lunch and conversation and it was wonderful! I have to ask...what part in Wicked are you trying out for? It's my favorite show of all time!

I picked up some things and swept a bit. I probably will have worked a 9-10 hour day by the time I'm done (work work for pay - frankly no the overtime isn't worth it, but I guess keeping my job is .. maybe ...). Part of it from home so yea I did tidying in between work. Made some pistou (and took the lazy-cut of using garlic flavored olive oil instead of real garlic) but that's really the food thread.

I ended up working a 15 hour day yesterday, so emptying the dishwasher was about it for chores. But, I didn't make any messes because I really wasn't home most of the day!
This is just our busy season at work, and there was a huge emergency sort of thing and I was asked to help out and we managed to get things to a point where the company won't have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in non-completion penalties, and I've been given two comp days that I can take as soon as things quiet down, and apparently the big bosses noticed that I did a good job, so I think it paid off. (And I'm not in the department that totally screwed up, which is also a good thing. I have a feeling heads are going to roll.)

Thanks for the replies. I like hearing about the cooking and baking, too. To me, it's all connected to a positive home life. I did about an hour of tidying up the front garden this a.m. I can see all the flowers from my front window as I type on the computer. I added a shovelful of homemade compost to my batch of compost tea. Later on, after it's been in the sun a while, I'll feed it to my houseplants. I'm going to take a ladder out on the porch today and clear out all of the cobwebs. I'm also going to sweep and mop the kitchen floor and give the kitchen a good cleaning. First I have to go swim and work my muscles! I'm off to the bus stop by bicycle...

I went through the masses of old writing, drawings, and paperwork that had gotten out of hand. I organized my little file cabinet. I had a moment of intense anxiety the night before because I thought I had lost an important paper. Being sloppy is just not worth it!
I've also been doing lots of outside work. It's a little frustrating because I've worked so hard and I'm not seeing a big impact. I think I'll take some photos today and see if they can help me pinpoint what's not working. My driveway/garden/ front walk all continue to look kind of junky, despite my landscaping, mulching, and repairs.
I really got behind on things and am slowly doing the deep work to catch up. I miss dd while she's at camp, but at least it stops the mess from accumulating for a little while (the old "shoveling in a blizzard" problem.)

Ugh! I've done nothing! At least it feels like nothing. I did spend last night going through my annual test results and putting them in an excel spreadsheet - then shredded the actually reports. I count that as "decluttering", but just by a hair. I'm hoping to be more motivated tomorrow. The thing is... I know I will get no help and that makes it easy for me to just do like everyone else. Have to get over that....
I'm living in a tiny little cabin now with few possesions, so it is much easier to keep clean on a daily basis. Today I am doing laundry and vacuuming up all the pet hair coming from my dog and 2 cats. I do that about every other day. Will be cooking a light dinner later. Watered and weeded my raised bed veggie garden this morning, which is a chore that I do daily. I enjoy keeping up my home and taking care of my pets. I'm like my beloved grandmothers, now long gone, in that I do a complete thorough spring and fall cleaning. Nothing is left untouched! :)

That's inspiring! You're right, it is easier to keep a tiny place clean when you have few possessions. I'm going to do some vacuuming myself. With two shepherds, there is a lot of dog hair to manage.
