My appendix! I started having pain on Tuesday and I really thought it was either an ovary cyst or right-sided diverticulitis. Tried to wait it out, but cried UNCLE yesterday. Went to the E.R. and had a ct scan, and there it was.....a big inflamed appendix! I couldn't believe it. They took it out by endocscopy that evening. I stayed the night and am home again. YAY! It doesn't happen very often that I have a pain that can be taken away. I'm happy. (and sore).

Good! Now at least you know what it was and had it taken care of. May you have a speedy and uncomplicated recovery!

Oh no! But, it is great when there is a simple diagnosis and cure, isn't it?
Are you on a restricted diet now?
I hope you are able to somewhat enjoy your down time.

Thanks everyone.
Gardenarian.....no diet restrictions. I thought tylenol could take care of the pain, but it's not doing a great job, so DH got the pain med prescription filled.
I'm sure the endoscopic approach has a much shorter recuperation time, thankfully! I guess I thought if my appendix made it this long, it would stay with me....but I guess not.
Thanks again everyone.

Glad that you got rid of that hing, Cathy!

My neighbor had a gut ache for some days and went on a car trip with ther husband, During the trip her appendix burst. She is one tough chick. It was only when they got back to town that she went to the ER. From then, she had to stay home and had regular cleaning and irrigation of the wound site, with all of those poisons she could have died.

Your television? Oh that's another thread. Decluttering - one (useless) organ at a time :~). Sounds like it went smoothly at least.

Glad you went to the ER and had it taken care of!! When DD was 6 years old, she had a "tummy ache" for a day or so, and I wound up taking her to the doctor, who sent us to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with appendicitis..and peritonitis!!! (her appendix actually burst in the ER). I always thought appendicitis was like an acute doubling-over pain--not like a tummy bug pain. In any case, really important to identify it properly, so I'm so glad YOU did!!

Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Glad you went before it got bad. A friends ruptured on the way to the hospital and after a rupture, it is a much bugger issue. (enough so that several of us had a discussion about why it isn't an option to remove it before any issues)

catherine.........I've heard that children just don't have many symptoms. I had a friend whose DD had the same problem. She had very little pain, but it ruptured.

I watched a YouTube of the Laproscopic procedure, and it's just amazing.

I can't believe that about 40 hours ago I had the surgery, and this morning I was picking beans and doing other things! I got I.V. antibiotics before the surgery, but the surgeon said that since the appendix wasn't leaking at all, I wouldn't need any afterwards. Here's hoping he was right! I always feel sooooo awful on antibiotics.

I had alot of energy today and have felt pretty good. I find myself thinking constantly "there's no place like home.....there's no place like home." How very true!

CathyA - great to hear things went so well. I'm another one who had a laproscopic appendectomy. Thanks goodness for modern medicine. And I agree you don't realize how poorly you felt until get relief and your normal energy comes back.
