I binge-watched this with my friend. This television show is in 8 episodes. It is a"detective" show but it's really an examination of the human condition and how we relate to the afterlife and the universe and Good and Evil.
The overview is: Woody Harrelson and Mathew McConoughey star as detectives in Louisiana who track, over 17 years, a ring of devil worshipers/killers. It's McConnoughey's best performance ever, simply amazing. These men are deeply flawed humans but they do the best they can and have ideals in carrying out their professional duties to protect society.
This production is on many critics' Top Ten list for the year, so check it out.

I was riveted. Both flawed in different ways. McConoughey was something to behold. Harrelson was the cop cliché. I don't mean that in a negative way, he was right on. We watched it over two nights and the first night I was so tense I could hardly sleep. They both deserve awards.
We binge-watched it, too. Excellent television.

I'm generally not much for navel-gazing (had you noticed? :~)), so I ignored your mention of the "human condition" and--on your recommendation--put this on hold at my library. They have 113 copies (!), so it shouldn't be long. Thanks!

My summary was stupid.
This is really about two detectives and their relationship and how they view the world. It's a great character study and a somewhat interesting serial murder case. But the "deep" parts (really not that deep!) are how the series touches on light and dark, on evil, and the constant presence of evil even in those of "the light."
It's about crazy southerners (like one of my others favorites, Justified.) I just wish that I'd been able to turn on subtitles. My friend doesn't know how to turn on subtitles with her streaming device. McConneauhay mumbles.
It sounds interesting; I'm looking forward to it.
Well, Lilypads; maybe they could re-open the case about Dick n' Perry. You know they were cleared in the Fla. case, last winter? No DNA match. Ha. Now, it's time to go after the REAL killer or killers in the Kansas Case.

I am trying out a batch of critically acclaimed tv series about murders, which my friend likes. It's her tv! So we watched one really bad UK production called Red Riding:1974, Ugh, avoid that one.
Now we are watching Southcliffe, another UK production about a mass murderer and it is very interesting.
We watched Gillian Anderson in The Fall (takes place in Northern Ireland) and found that one REALLY good! Highly recommended. Also Top of the Lake was good.
Next up on our list is The Bridge, probably the original Swedish version even though the American version is respected.
Packy, if they make a critically embraced film about Dick 'n Perry, I will watch it, especially if it is a UK production.
Thanks for the heads-up. Sounds very interesting.
