It seems like a different way to drip brew as in with a hand held filter.

It's sort of like a Melita drip thing. I'm assuming the filter is washable?

Haven't used one like that but I currently use a drip cone and pour hot water slowly over the grounds. Similar to this method http://www.bluebottlecoffee.com/preparation-guides/drip

I have something similar called a Primula Coffee Brew Buddy. It works pretty good. You might have to play with the size of your coffee grinds. Too coarse and it runs right through.
