View Full Version : Eye floaters
Hi all,
I am interested to know if anyone has ever expierenced a floater in your eye? This is my first I vaguely remember some years ago hearing about them. It's like a small gray circle that just sits there and really throws your vision off. I think I will visit the eye Dr. but from what I hear there isn't anything they can do. I believe you just have to wait and hope it go's away.
Please let me know if you have any information.
Thanks,
Cody11
My floaters are usually little lines and they move - I've got lots of them.
My gray circles and ovals are burned holes in my retinas - I have macular degeneration - I've got 5 in my left and 4 in my right (or the other way around). I take a lot of supplements to slow the process but there is no cure.
And then there is ocular migraines which start as a tiny horseshoe shape (flashing) and increases to fill my whole vision - those take 20 minutes and thankfully I don't have regular migraine pain with those.
My eyes are my weak spot.
Check out this previous discussion of them.

Hi everyone and thanks CathyA. Didn't realize everyone in the world has them. What a drag. It's so fun waking up each morning to see what else has gone wrong with your body.
Floaters are apparently a normal part of aging. But if you haven't been to the eye doc for a while, it's a good idea to go. For a number of years I had periodic episodes of eye inflammation that several doctors told me was conjunctivitis. Lately it had started to recur more often and my GP recommended I see an ophthalmologist. I put it off for months until I had another recurrence, this time a really bad one. Turned out I had not conjunctivitis but iritis, a potentially more serious condition.
The reason I mention this is that just a few weeks before the really bad flare-up, I'd been to an optometrist for a routine eye exam, and he told me my eyes were basically fine except for a few floaters. A few weeks later when the ophthalmologist examined me, she told me that the iritis had already caused some scarring in that eye and she was seeing the early stages of a cataract.
Fortunately, it looks like the treatment she prescribed is going well. But, lesson learned, don't mess around where eye health is concerned.
hi oldhat,
I agree with you. I am going to make an appointment with the Dr .just to make sure. Thanks so much for your advice.
That's a good idea Cody......just to be on the safe side. I've heard that about the only way you can get rid of them is for them to clump together and float down to the bottom of the eye, and out of being in front of the retina. Mine don't seem to do that.
I've had spells when they seem to get worse, but I can't say why.
And try to go to an Ophthalmologist, not an optometrist.
