I've been able to read the Simple Living forums on my Apple iPhone 5C phone. I go through the New Roadmap site. It's been good.........the perfect size to read. However, yesterday, when I would click on the site, the list of all the forums comes up so small, I can't read anything. I know I can zoom it, but it's still not the same as it was earlier. It's become a pain to move around on the site.
DD said something about maybe the page is set for web, and not mobile, but I don't see any adjustment for that on the page. Any ideas how I can get it back to the more reader-friendly version on my phone?
(And please.....no "this is why I'm not getting a smart phone" responses. That's not very helpful.
Thanks!

Have you tried to scroll to the very very bottom of the page to see if there is an option to select either web or phone version of the pages?

We have a template optimized for mobile viewing. Scroll down to the bottom left corner and choose 'Default Mobile Style' rather than the 'FIMain' style.
There is another mobile option entitled 'SLF Mobile' which I created, although I never completed tweaking it so the graphics are not ready for prime time. You could still use it though.

Do you guys mean the bottom of the phone choices (??) at the bottom of the SL page, (outside of the actual page) or the bottom of the actual SL page?
I just don't see anything that relates to a choice to the style.
I don't understand why this has suddenly changed. I may have accidentally pressed a wrong button (which I've been known to do....hahaha)

I google SL, and it takes me to the various choices. I choose the NewRoad Map site and I click on that, and it brings up a slightly smaller page......which is this site.

I'm frustrated. Keep trying though!

Oh wait........at the bottom of the google choices for Simple Living sites, it has an icon of a magnifying glass with "web" underneath it. But nothing happens if I press on it.

Cathy, if you are viewing the site on your computer right now, scroll down to the bottom left corner of the page. You will see text box within the green footer that says 'FIMain' and also has a down arrow to the side. Click on the down arrow and choose 'Default Mobile Style'.
Once you've familiarized yourself with how that is done, visit the site on your phone. Do not complicate things with Google or New Roadmap, simply go to http://simplelivingforum.net and follow the same procedure.

WOOHOO Alan! YOU DA MAN!

I couldn't even read that text in that little green box, but I pushed on the box and it enlarged and I could see the Mobile Style choice.
Thanks so much!!
WOOHOO! I can put my magnifying glass away.

P.S. Alan........I only need to change it to Mobile style on my phone, right? I wasn't having any probs on the computer.

P.P.S............ Also, through Google I typed in the direct link you gave for the site, and it still brings up the Roadmap site and then I choose the discussion boards. Any way I can go straight to the discussion boards?
Sorry I'm soooooooo slow with this.

P.S. Alan........I only need to change it to Mobile style on my phone, right? I wasn't having any probs on the computer.Yep, just on your phone. It will have no effect on your computer. Actually, when you visit the site from a mobile phone it should automatically choose the mobile style as the forum software is able to ascertain which browser and operating system you're visiting from and choose the appropriate template. I'm not sure why that isn't working for you.

That link should take you directly to the discussion boards. I'm not sure why you're using Google as an intermediary, nor do I have any idea why Google is taking you to the New Roadmap site. It doesn't do it for me.

Edited to add: I'm assuming you're talking about the financialintegrity.org site rather than the Google link to "Simple Living Forums hosted by New Roadmap Foundation", which is the official name of this site.

Thanks Alan,
No, I got through the SLF hosted by the New Roadmap Foundation. Maybe I need a software update?
It's amazing how lost I can get in this phone! But fortunately, I can always click it off and start over. I don't have to find my way back! :~)

I went through google, 'cause I didn't know how else to get there. Isn't google the only way I can type in the link to the boards?

No. Typing the address into the browser address bar will always take you to the destination. Perhaps your browser is using Google as a home page and their site is what you see as you're directing your browser to come here? Typing an internet address into a browser address bar will take you wherever you want to go, regardless of what page is being displayed.

But how can I have a browser bar to type in, without choosing something like Google?

Alan

The browser is simply an application. On the iPhone the default browser is Safari, which has nothing to do with Google. Google is a destination, just as the Simple Living Forums is a destination. You can get to one from the other, but it is not necessary. Perhaps you're using the Google app to access the internet? If so, that is not necessary, simply start your browser app (Safari) and type your destination address into the address bar. Eliminate the middle man.

Well, I went through Safari and some other funky things happened. I have to go now, but I'll continue this later.
I appreciate your help Alan!

Well Cathy, the important thing is that you make it here. How you do it is up to you. ;)
