View Full Version : Some good work news for a change!

Remember me talking about the big boss for my office who made my life (and a lot of other people's, it seems) hell for months on end at work? Well, karma bites! He was bounced out on his head this morning! When we were heading to the conference room for a meeting no one knew what about, my manager told me to appear unemotional. I knew then big boss was a goner!

New big boss is my wonderful former manager (who urged me to go for my prized professional certification). She'd still been with the company, but in a different role. But we still worked closely with her.

The CEO (based out of my city, but used to work in the same office) said he knew what had been going on and had been trying to get the fired guy straightened out for close to a year. When CEO saw me dragging my butt back to my desk from the copier about 7 tonight, he told me to go home, regardless of what was on my desk. He know exactly how much we've been working.

The logistics manager did quit a while back, but they've been in such a bind that he agreed to stay on through the end of next week (about 6 weeks since he gave notice).

The one coworker who took all the sick time I mentioned earlier in the summer? She resigned and her last day was Friday. However, we discovered this afternoon that she had deleted all the pricing spreadsheets for one customer on a shared drive used by the entire company. This affects a couple of other offices, not just mine. And she conveniently deleted them from her email (when she sent them to the customer) before she left. It's month end, customer is screaming for their invoices, and we can't send them as we don't know what to charge them! >:( We're going to look in the fired guy's email as he was the one that did the pricing sheets and sent them to the offices.

We're still looking for two people for my department. We need two someones experienced who are fully capable of stepping into the positions, with just training on our industry-specific software and our specific procedures. Those people are hard to find.

It's so nice to hear good job news from someone for a change instead of the all too common story about how half the staff got laid off and everyone else had to pick up their work and so on. Congratulations!

Karma did it's job, again!
I have a friend who just handed in her resignation. She's been thinking about retirement anyway, but having a new supervisor this year who was a really bad boss was what pushed her over the edge.

This same supervisor has had 3 other people resign and leave the company rather than work with her. At least your CEO was wise to your boss, but sadly, I think that in many workplaces these jerks manage to avoid being fired for years while chaos reigns around them.

Good for you! It stinks going to work when someone there makes everyone miserable.

Isn't it amazing how vindictive people can be? The one who deleted important information before she left....that's just bad. And it will affect mostly the coworkers who were just as miserable as this person was.

Tradd, I'm glad to hear this. I hope things turn around so that you aren't working 60+ hours for months on end.

Glad you were able to hang on through the turmoil and that senior management finally did what needed to be done. Hope things improve for you now -- sounds like they will with the skilled manager you like back in charge.
