View Full Version : Well, I did it
I sent the email to the director of my master's program, asking to be withdrawn from the program. I have mild chest pains and I hope this does not lead to a panic attack. I have my medication if that should happen.
Good for you. It didn't sound like you were getting enough of a benefit to justify the drain.
Just think of it as a major simplifying of your life!
Here's something unsettling: I sent the email last night at around 6 p.m., and I have not heard from the director of the program yet. Nada. Perhaps she is out of the office, but in this day and age, I would think that a leader in academia would be "connected" most of the time.
The child-of-an-alcoholic inside me is saying, "She's mad at you! She's angry because you wasted her time, and everyone else's! She's disgusted with you because you are a coward."
Jaysus...I've got to stop talking to myself like that.

really though did they get paid for the time you took classes? Well then, there's a good chance that's all they care about :)

Put it behind you! Detach yourself from the results! Go do something fun with your newfound time!
Since I get tuition remission, I'm not exactly sure how it worked out. I did have to pay a "university fee" and a "technology fee," though, and I certainly paid them in full.

Good for you. I always tell myself "that's history. Move on."
It wasn't a failure; you learned something about yourself.
