HI all, haven't seen you in a long time. About a month ago I decided to get back into sewing. I had been helping a friend sew for Burning Man and got pretty excited about sewing again. So then I started to do some more sewing for myself. Part of this was so things would fit better (large chest and not much waist) and part is to be creative and part is to not buy 'fast food clothes' (ones that are made at environmental and human cost). I have sewed 3 items and up cycled more items so far.

I have been posting on Facebook, but wanted to start this thread and see if anyone wanted to see my projects or if others are interested in sharing their similar work.

Zoe

would love to see your projects here! I use to sew a lot, I mean really a lot but, got away from it.

I still have a pile of fabric and lots and I mean lots of unfinished projects. I could use some inspiration to start again.

Zoe Girl!!! So nice to see you again!

Sounds like you're having a good time - I hope all is well with you and your family.

I like that phrase "fast food clothes" - kind of says it all.

Welcome back!

I'd love to see your clothes. I've been doing the same thing with knitting. I make all of my own sweaters, socks, and tops. I buy my pants and shorts at the Salvation Army. At least it's for a good cause. The prices are great, and the clothes I've found are brand new.

When I was younger I sewed some of my clothes. Some were a disaster, and some were great.
Haven't done much of it lately. Still have lots of material from 35 years ago.........along with a gazillion cross-stitch threads. Seems like I always find something else to do.
It makes me sad that so many young people today don't have a clue how to use a sewing machine.

I've always loved the idea of sewing clothes, but my attempts at it have been pretty lame. I'd like to see your work.

Wow, very timely post. I used to make all my clothes in high school, and then my sewing skills were only called upon at Halloween (I made some pretty awesome Halloween costumes, if I do say so myself!).

DH and I watch Project Runway and watching it makes me hungry to go back to making my own clothes. Please let me see your projects, because the last dress patterns I saw were Simplicity and McCall patterns circa 1968. Would LOVE to see something more current!

Well Burda is awesome. I have a few things on my list from there. Now taking all my photos on my phone has me learning how to get the photos in the right place.

If this link works you can see my next project http://www.burdastyle.com/pattern_store/patterns/wrap-blouse-042014
