View Full Version : October Is National Pizza Month...

I saw online where Fox TV(which I don't watch--it is too propagandistic)had a segment about this month being "National Pizza Month", featuring several commercial pizza moguls. One of them is the top pepperoni at Papa Murphy's, and he boasted of having exceeded 1100 stores. That IS excessive! Anyway, I should post a link or two about this crisis, but I don't want to. I did pick up several Factoids from the Pizza Propaganda Campaign. One, Americans eat 200 acres of Pizza per day. Two: 251,770,000 lbs of Pepperoni are consumed annually; 3) Pizza, is a staple of the American Diet. The third item, I actually believe, and I've already stated it elsewhere on this forum. But, the irony is---the so-called "healthcare crisis". My anti-pizza campaign is founded upon the belief that if people didn't consume so darn much pizza, they would greatly decrease the demand for costly medical procedures, like stents for arterial blockage, knee joint replacement, etc., etc., etc. and prescription drugs, such as statins, which people detest taking because of side effects. Pizza, is the New Tobacco. Don't even get me started, ranting about potheads(major pizza consumers), and how they claim pot is not only harmless, but beneficial as well. Anyway---Pizza Is Health Food-- -Eat lots of it if you want Bad Health. See?

Just don't leave all of those pizza boxes in the Carroll street alley in St. Louis. The alley Nazi will call officer Brian Min to issue a citation.

Mmmm, pizza! But I often cook my own or get it from locally owned small businesses after a long day hiking. As for pot...I have not observed a huge spike in pizza places in the last 6 months, when there has been a huge spike in pot sales around here. Maybe Doritos...:~)
Though pot has never made me hungry, only very thirsty. This data is n<4 by intake method though. Not scientific.

Right into the compost bin, here. Unless they're pristine; then it's recycle those suckers.

I don't know what's going on with cannabis sales around Seattle--it seems very little thought went into the logistics of it all. Much like the total fail of the "buy a pint at the drug store" initiative. Can we get a do-over?

Though pot has never made me hungry, only very thirsty. This data is n<4 by intake method though. Not scientific. Well, guess what? In my extensive reading about the Pizza Consumption Epidemic & Crisis, I have read at least ONE comment by a Pizza Dealer--was it in either Washington or Colorado-- that yes, business has spiked since the De-criminalization of Cannibus went into effect. It is also common knowledge that "Spectatoritis" is also a contributing factor, as well. When TV football season commences, your mailbox will be crammed with unsolicited bulk mail print ads featuring offers for "Pizza deals" from "pizza pushers", as I like to call 'em.

I closely watch what I eat; mostly made-from-scratch healthy foods. But, I love pizza and have it occassionally and enjoy it to the hilt and won't be giving it up--ever!

I don't think pizza is healthy. I try to stay away from it as much as possible

Chain pizzerias..... Not so much. Yes, Ish; I've heard of "Neapolitan-Style" Pizza. But, I figured it was an advertising gimmick. Based on my many misconceptions and the negative stereotypes I tend to harbor, I can't say I blame you for not liking your local "Papa McDuffie's" Glasgow-Style Pizza place. They prolly skimp on the ingredients, which are prolly the cheapest ones they can find, and undercook them to save energy costs. But, they figure if people drink a couple pints beforehand, they won't even notice the difference. Correct me if I'm mistaken. Thanks.

I've tried pizza in Italy every time I've been there and never cared for it at all. Wonder why that is?

I like to make a veggie and cheese pizza with thin crust. It's pretty healthy, in my opinion. :)
It's a good and quick dinner that we eat often...

I've tried pizza in Italy every time I've been there and never cared for it at all. Wonder why that is? Well, see--you were prolly staying at a hotel, The Hotelia Italianico De Americanna Touristo, owned by an international chain, & called room service in the middle o' the night, and asked them to send up a REAL pizza, right away! Well, they prolly pulled a frozen delight out of the freezer that had been manufactured in a small town way up north in the middle o' nowhere in Iowa, shipped by a freighter to a port in Italy via various other ports, and then to the hotel's frozen food locker. See? If that isn't the answer, try this: maybe the pizza you had in Italy wasn't GREASY enough. That may be it.

It's a good and quick dinner that we eat often... Well, I'll take your word for it. . I'll bet you set the dough on the counter, jump up there, and then use your bare feet to trample the dough flat. The aerobic exercise you get doing that, is what is healthy for you. Thank Me.

We ate pizza in Switzerland, which borders Italy, and it was good.

BUt I like my own pizza as well as any purchased stuff.

As for that pizza you make at home---I'll bet you used the recipe from your SIL, Lizzza. She, apparently loves pizza, piled high with oooey-goooey mozzzzerellla cheese. Yum.

I'm feeling like pizza right now. American Flatbread, thin crust, mushrooms, and onions and peppers..

I think I'm needing a good dose of fat in my diet right now!

I'm from Edinburgh, not Glasgow.

We have some wonderful Italian restaurants, pizzerias and coffee shops. Google Valvona and Crolla.
Try not to let your USA-centric prejudices show so much. It is such an UNATTRACTIVE trait, especially in someone who purports to have travelled widely.

Not an expert, but an observer. See, how it works is: One city(or town)will have restaurants that serve grease that they claim is the kind served in another urban area, and presumed to be more sophisticated or better or just different. It's a gimmick. See? So,
if you were to open up a pizza place in Edinburgh, you might have Glasgow-Style Pizza. Or, if you open up "Mama Ishbellini's Pizza" in Glasgow, you might do well with "Edinburgh-Style Pizza". Just to make people think it's better. Another thing "Italian" restaurants are prone to doing is proclaiming their food is "Authentic". To differentiate it from chef boyardi canned, maybe? As for my VERY annoying traits, well, I think you've acknowledged that I am proficient at it. Being annoying, that is. Thanks! It's good to be Good at something, right?
