View Full Version : Where would you live in the DC area?

Considering a move to the DC area. An extremely important factor is someplace with strong public middle and high schools. Other than that I hope for a "liberal" vibe, walkability (I dread the idea of one of DC's cookie-cutter suburbs in MD/VA where all I would do is drive around in traffic all day), dense neighborhood with older, smaller homes. I have lived in the area before but that was during the no-kids years and although I liked the places I lived they would not fit the "good public schools" criteria. I work from home and would continue to do so. Takoma Park, MD seemed like one possibility but I don't know much about it.

Any ideas?

You'd like Takoma Park, MD; not sure how affordable it is these days, and don't know about the schools there. Fairfax County in Virginia has excellent schools and may be more affordable.

Contact some of the nice people at the cohousing below and they will give you the rundown on Takoma Park in WDC. It is a cohousing community there.
