oh sh*(&^^, I have the one staff that it has been a relief that he got another job. He is full time in the building still but not my staff.Last Monday we had a horrible interaction about some problems, he would rather take a write up than have a conversation. I have been loaning him to another school 3 days a week since I have more outside providers like Girl and Boy Scouts. But he is awesome about the data entry, needs no supervision on that and a few other tasks. I had figured out how to cover for him leaving, and it was going to be fine, I will save the budget for other things and my budget is small this year.

Then another person put in notice, she is awesome and we have such a great team this year. They work well together, support each others ideas, work so well with our kids, and I like them. She got a better job in her field so I can't be upset but I am now concerned. With a better economy not as many people want the type of job we offer.

The big immediate issue is that I have 2 staff in the morning and one quit. That means I will have to be at the 6:15 am -8 am shift everyday with kids until we at least get mornings hired. I rarely leave during the day due to meetings or workload so that is a solid 12 a day. I have 2 staff in the afternoon which is the basic minimum and we are going to let our child who has a one on one go solo. She is acting like she is ready. But with the other staff gone I will be teaching classes and not available if this child has an issue. Just feeling a little too tight.

Thank you for listening, I am going to renew my rec membership so I can go across the street and swim during the day as one coping system. Home is 20 minutes away so some days I will go home and nap. Any brilliant ideas about how to take refreshing time off on a split shift are great

Taking a walk might also help besides trying to hire & train as quickly as possible.

Yes, hire and train! Fortunately or unfortunately the hiring is part of a massive department with 50 sites. So I am competing with my colleagues for good staff. Morning shifts go through cycles, either lots of people want them or no one wants them. I can at least work that, in the afternoon I will have to cut short on some of my classes I offer, Really try to boost up what I already have in place with the staff I have.

As long as I am staffed for the middle of January I can cope. I am going on a 7 day retreat and so I can't even do support phone calls.

The walk is an awesome idea, there is a lake across the street and it is perfect for a 30 minute walk.
