I am considering purchasing an IPad but wonder where can I find a on-line store that sells quality products. Or, are there any traditional stores that would sell refurbrished Apple products? Apple Retail stores do not. I also want to upgrade my phone to a newer iPhone in the same way. I can buy it from Verizon Wireless but they charge too much.

Also, I noticed my battery on the Iphone 4 is being drained at an alarming rate. I think I am supposed to remove apps from more than just the surface. I am reading I have to get into the iTunes library and clear the history. I never use iTunes, but I understand that is where apps may be stored. If they are not removed from the library they can still be on the phone. I think this is my problem. I downloaded the Facebook Messenger App, found it too invasive and used up battery, removed it but experiencing battery drain as if it is still there.

I bought my mom's ipad from the Apple website, and it was refurbished.

There is a local store that I got my refurbished apple laptop at. It has been great until I spilled on the keyboard. Is there a local place that sells apple products?

yes, the apple website should have a listing of refurbished products.

Actually the problem with apps draining the battery isn't that they are on the phone. It's that you've used them and then never closed them. Some apps (like any that access the GPS or any that receive notifications) draw power while in the background. Double click the round button and you can scroll through your apps and swipe them up to close them. (at least that's how you do it with iOS 7. I haven't updated to iOS 8 yet.)

That said, your battery is probably not holding a charge as well. I still have a 4S and the battery doesn't last nearly as long as it did when the phone was new.

Thanks for the helpful responses. The iPhone 4 I use was bought refurbrished so it may be at least two years old now. The battery drain is a recent problem and the Verizon Wireless customer service staff said it could be the recent upgrades may be too much for this older model. Of course, the latest deluxe model would not have this problem, of course. I do close the Apps as Jp1 mentions.

I may be restricting myself to brand and should consider other products that also may have a secondary market. People seem to upgrade frequently while I am okay with a slower version. I am not a heavy user and seriously, only need a good reliable phone and probably a decent laptop or notepad to do what I want to do. I had a Tracfone for 4 years before I upgraded to the iPhone last January. It's a no contract pay per month plan which fits my budget. I was planning to upgrade to the newer iPhone in January but as it's not under contract, I can do this whenever I want. But, I don't want to shell out $$ every year for a new phone. That's not frugal that's consumer driven marketing.

I appreciate the replies. I will read carefully and consider what to do.
