Besides the obvious, what can I do with it to use it up? The last bar of artisan soap sat on our sink for a couple of years and it gets grungy with crevices.
I am sorry to confess that somehow, I've switched over to liquid soap in a pump but I'm not likely to switch back now to hand soap.
We do use bar soap in the shower, so I suppose I could use it up there. It's heavily scented with spearmint for the season.
Quite frankly, I cannot figure out the attraction of the artisan soaps and the number of people who make them. I use a bar with lavender as an air freshener in my linens but that is it. The number that I have experimented using are too harsh for personal use so I stick with Dove bars.
I imagine you could melt it and make it look like new again.

Most of the artisan and hand-milled soaps won't work well in our hard water. You can grate bars of soap and make liquid soap with it. Here's just one of the many how-to instructions available: http://www.savvyhousekeeping.com/how-to-turn-a-bar-of-soap-into-liquid-hand-soap/
grate it into a tupperware of water, let it sit for a week til it's reasonably goopy, hit it with a hand blender, then dump it in the laundry. Or just dump it, period. It's half a bar of grimy soap, Sweetie. !Splat!
ETA: I keep a bar of soap in my toolbox to lubricate screws. Perfect use for a bar that's already icky.

We grate bars of soap to make the Duggars laundry detergent recipe with borax and washing soda; have been doing this several years now and have saved a ton. So you could do that with it.

haha ha! But my fault, I meant that the last bar of artisian soap I allowed to sit around until it got grimy, and then I threw it out.I didn't want that fate to befall this new bar that someone just gifted me.

I boil a grated bar soap in a large pot with eight cups of water. Once it cools, I pour it into an old milk jug. I use it for hand washables, laundry, liquid hand soap, etc. I still use bar soap in the bathroom. I order goat's milk soap from a family farm in Indiana.

Donate it and let someone who loves artisan soap get a good deal at a thrift store.

Ah! Glad to hear you haven't descended to the re-use madness I live in. I drop off gifty girly stuff like this at the local women's shelter.
Melt it into liquid soap and use to spray aphids.
Donate it to a food bank or women's shelter.

I've used soap to lubricate old drawers that won't open, it does work (though I'd rather never again live somewhere with built in drawers that old though, that old apartment was horrible).

I am melting this using it the soapy water in bits in the laundry. Making it liquid seems to be the advice theme here, so that's what I'm doing with it.
I love artisan soaps but can't imagine re-gifting an old used bar. Glad there are so many suggestions on how to re-purpose it.

this is a misconception due to my poor writing skills.
the old used bar that sat around for years taught me that I will never use artisian soap as intended. So when I received a brand new one as a present, I put out request for ideas in using it up.
