there is a handmade homemade market in denver that is taking applications for vendors. It is open on the 29th, i am thinking about it. i am not sure i would even get accepted, but i am thinking about trying. it will mean creating a LOT more stock with no guarantees. if i can write the little book that goes with my dragon puppets then that will help a lot. And lots of quick price options like the kitchen stuff, a potholder takes me an hour, also the grocery sacks, and many more items.

the encouraging thing is that my mom said if i did a craft fair she would try to be here and help out

Zoe, have you gone to this fair before or talked to one or more of the vendors? Usually costly, high overhead to start out...........

Have you looked into the online site, Etsy? Low overhead, technical to start up (maybe), dont need large amounts of stock, concentrates on handmade..... Dragon Puppets seem a really good fit.

i have an etsy store, need to do more with it. my idea for the craft fair would be to boost everything up. there are several fairs with this organization over the next months so maybe i can wait until the March one instead of pushing for February.

so far i sold one puppet and a couple other items at a very small fair. i just paid a percentage of what i made rather than a booth fee.

the book seems the key for me. i made up the dragon story at a school i worked at that is over 100 years old. i did camp there last week and told the story to the kids. i think if i had an illustrator i could at least put it out to those parents.

I am just thinking but what if the art work came from the kids?

Still no matter where or how, do you have start up funds?

Well run business (money making) ideas usually have a plan.

what a good idea, hmm. then my drawing ability (or my ability to coerce my very talented children into drawing for me) i have been telling the story for 5 years so it has the kinks worked out.

business plans, i keep trying on those. i think i need a business plan idea that is flexible. i tend to get sidetracked and yet feel strict business plans are difficult since i get overwhelmed and then tend to quit.
