I decided I wanted a loveseat for my living room; I've only had 2 chairs in it for several years now. So I was browsing around various websites, determined the general dimensions, and figured out what would fit nicely in my space. Then I started shopping in earnest, styles, fabrics, colors- and began to notice the price tags, ouch!

So I went to my next shopping venue: Craigslist. I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area, so there is a LOT to chose from here. Sure enough, found exactly what I wanted! Dimensions, style, fabric, color, and less than a year old from a non-smoking, pet-free home, for.... $80!!!! Borrowed a van from a friend, recruited 2 of my grandsons as helpers, and picked it up yesterday. I am SO pleased!

We went to look at furniture today as our old recliner is pretty ragged. Couldn't believe how much furniture has gone up but the stores were full with people buying very expensive new furniture left and right. Anyway, it strengthened my resolve to keep on trying craigslist. Perhaps your market is better than ours but lately the selection here has not been very good. Nor have I been able to sell anything either. I'm glad you found what you needed at a great price.

pinkytoe, do you have any consignment stores at a reasonable distance? We have several and they have lovely furniture. That said, we needed a recliner that was a perfect size etc. and hubby tried out at least 400 before he bought one. Right now he is sitting in it with two cats and a computer. The arm is wide enough to use the computer mouse and he is very happy. It was a good purchase.

Yes we have a couple of good ones one of which we checked today. Like craigslist, it seems to be a matter of good luck whether they have something or not. Wondering what recliner you ended up liking?

Sorry, dont know the name. It is big, leather, and "horrors" electric. The big furniture store was going out of business.

I quit buying furniture on craigslist because of the bed bug problem. But I have sold on there so people are still buying. I buy others things though. Around here if I price it right it will be gone in a day or at most a week.

A friend of mine bought a whole living room full of good-quality furniture on Craigslist for a few hundred dollars. She's deliriously happy with it.
