Does any one know (really know) any one who has made any money selling on Etsy?
I used it 2012 and 2013 and made quite a bit of money using it as one of my money streams. I averaged $900 a month on it. It is a lot of work. Photos must be perfect, descriptions and tagging very important. Networking, staying in front (pushing, constantly adding new items), staying current and wanted. I was kind of glad when I decided to take a break for all of 2014 and now I don't want to go back.
I met people over new year's who now use Etsy as their sole retail selling platform, they make pewter lapel pins. However, I believe they've been doing this as a family business in a variety of venues including fairs and catalogs for at least 20 years.
This might be weird but I just opened an etsy shop to sell knitted scarves as a way of decluttering (using up my yarn stash) and making a bit of money in the process. It's not something that's going to be a serious income stream and once the items are sold, I will close it.

LOL, I was thinking of opening a store just to sell baby quilts and small fabric wall hangings, to use up my rather extensive fabric stash!
saguaro and mschrisgo2, did you go ahead with your etsy experiences and plans? how did it work out for you?
