i have an issue with finding shirts that fit. i had one basic white button down but that no longer fits (large chest issue). the middle age weight gain has made the issue even more pronounced. So there are a couple companies based in the UK that make specially designed shirts so you can actually wear a button down shirt or a dress that fits! i was feeling like i should just order one instead of sewing and then i did the conversion of dollars and pounds, the shirt without shipping would be about $75. Now if i did not sew at all i probably would buy it and a dress. My sister has the same issue on the opposite end of the chest size spectrum but i can alter for smaller easier than for larger.

probably TMI,

You live in a big enough city. Here in Indy we have a very good custom tailor (Leon Tailoring Company) who does men's and women's clothes both totally custom and custom alterations. Shirts were less than I expected. I think it would be an interesting visit to go and talk to one of your local tailors to see what might be involved. You can do it online but personal service and measuring mean so much. There is no reason you need to go to the UK. The US has all kinds of companies that will do custom work.

i have been doing my own sewing but if i don't have time i will look into the custom tailor option. i have made just one shirt so far, my mom buys me a lot of shirts. the one i made i customized to size and like it a lot. i haven't found specifically these clothing options without a custom sewer here in the US, they basically have you measure your difference between bust and waist/hips. a standard difference starts at DD, then if the difference is greater you can go up from there. So it is really nice, maybe a starting place for knowing what is available instead of just assuming you need to wear tent shirts. some of the style choices were also made to work with the body type like no turtlenecks which do not work. i also liked that models showed what it really looks like!

there are definitely options but i think it is at least good to look at. funny thing but the bra company i found that would actually offer my correct size is also from the UK, hmm
