Well, it says online that yesterday, at the "Cathedral of The Blessed Sacrament" in rural Altoona, Pa., that during the Easter Service one of the attendees accidentally shot themselves with a gun they had in their pocket! A witness said they heard a loud bang, and looked around and saw smoke arising from one of the other worshippers there. The wounded individual was taken to a hospital for treatment. No other details have been released. How do you like that? Well, you kids are right--there really ARE doofusses that actually go so far as to take their beloved problem-solver to church on Sunday! I figure this is just more proof that the proliferation of Guns we've seen lately---due to media and gun-nut-community fear mongering, will NOT make us all Safer. It means that even more incompetent fools than ever will be in possession of a deadly weapon. It also increases the odds that you, or someone you know, will get shot. By the way--did I tell you that when Lee Oswald was in the USMC & stationed in Japan, that he accidentally shot himself when he dropped a contraband pistol he bought, and was court-martialed for it?

I'm going to check and see if there are any new developments in this case.

Well, it said the gunner (who apparently was trying extra-hard to be on the safe side by simultaneously attending church and carrying a problem-solver), was not injured when he accidentally fired his gun within the confines of his pocket. . But, a couple years ago, just before Xmas, there was a church shooting in Pa. in which two were killed. The police then tracked the perpetrator down, and a confrontation occurred, in which the police shot and killed the suspect. Even though Pa. is a very populous state, it is also hilly & woodsy, and there are evidently a lot of characters that should be living even further back in the hills.Maybe even back in the 18th century, as well.

I guess the church is a Catholic Church.

Was the guy with the gun in his pocket one of the Knights of Columbus? :~) DH is catholic and gets soooooo irritated when they march down the isle at christmas time with their uniforms on and their swords drawn. DH goes crazy and finds this so inappropriate and has told the priests so, on a number of occasions.

I thought the K of C just leased an old building, and used it a booze club & used some of the proceeds for good deeds, to allay criticism for their partying.
