The country's best known cougar & sex offender was recently being interviewed by BaBa WaWa, in the company of her 6th-grade pupil/victim/husband. Is this another direction our society is headed? If so, I may open a cake bakery, catering to older female/very much younger male weddings. Just curious. Please, discuss amongst yourselves. It might not hurt if someone can post a video clip of the interview.

I love Mary K a Y,she is a special kind of nut job. I do not envy her, or her young husband.

Funny that should come up because last week I googled her to see what she was up to lately.

I would like to know how they earn a living. He's got no education and she can't teach.so where does their income come from?

She's kind of a chip off the old block--her father (a minor politician) had a similar relationship, IIRC. Last I heard, she did some legal work for friends, and he's supposedly a DJ. At one time, he was considering becoming a tattoo artist. I wonder how their girls are doing; they had a pretty rough start.

Maybe I'm a bit of a libertine, but it seems to me once a couple has been together for--what it it? ten or fifteen years--it's time to clear the record. It seems like "no harm, no foul" to me.

I don't think she is worthy of shaming or scorn. I think they are a circus act.

The biography I read about her showed her to be someone with little self-confidence which led to her gloaming onto this very young man who was probably quite confident. Those kids who mature early can be quite convincing.

I agree with you there Jane. Sometimes age doesn't seem to matter.

"Mary Kay Fualaau (née Schmitz, formerly Mary Kay Letourneau; born January 30, 1962) is a former schoolteacher who pleaded guilty to two counts of felony second degree rape of a child, her 12-year-old student, Vili Fualaau. Her plea agreement called for six months in jail, with three months suspended, and no contact with Fualaau for life."

Twelve years old.

The article I read said thirteen, but that still makes it a scandal.

At any rate, he's thirty-five now, they're still together, and at some point I think the scandal ceases to be scandalous.

There are always sympathizers for people like Letourneau. In fact--I sent her a Valentine!< Not really. Just trying to be funny.

I read a quick biography of her, back when she was paroled in 2004. When she was in grade school, she lived in Callyfornya, and like most callyfornyans, they had a swimming pool. See, you just can't live in the desert, without a pool! She had a younger brother, a toddler or preschooler that she was supposed to be babysitting. Anyway, the brother drowned in the pool, cause she wasn't watching him. And, yeah--it seems like the Dad of the family was a politician, a "conservative", (like mee) and he engaged in some hypocritical activities. That's why she's supposed to be a little odd, kind of like that GF of the guy who ran for VP a few years ago--whats-his-name--Edwards. Anyway, Her(Edwards' GF) father had her beloved pet horse killed, to collect the insurance, and it supposedly blew her mind. That's what warped her personality; that is supposedly why Mary Kay would start dating a 12 year old, even though she already had 3 kids, a decent job & a husband with a good-paying job. <I listed those in order of importance to most wimmin. It is because She has a Blown Mind, so nothing is her fault. Her husband Vili, the one she went to jail over, has had substance abuse problems. It isn't HIS fault--he was sexually abused by his 6th-grade teacher. See? I didn't think so. Anyway, she wants to resume teaching school, if she can just get her "sex offender" status rescinded, and get her teaching certificate back. Un-be-lievable. See--give 'em an inch, and they want a mile! They had a hot babe that taught school around here, Allison Peck(in case you want to check her mugshot out), and she went "up the river" for dating some of her male students. Maybe she needs a pen pal. Maybe I should start writing her. Naaaah--she'd be dismissive on the basis that I'm too OLD for her. Just betcha. Hope that helps you kids some. Thank Mee.

Vili's family background suggests that it's unlikely he would have become President of the United States or would have graduated cum laud from Princeton or even would have attended State Univ to study something that interests him. His culture supports men being men early on and higher education and achievement aren't a priority.

So, him being saddled with such a clingy vine of a woman at such a young age, while playing into his family dynamic, also killed the remote possibility that he would go out into the world, learn, and achieve self-actualization. As expected in his family, he took on the burden of women, babies, and manly men being men (and drinking and drugging.)

I would not want my 13 year old son to take responsibility for a 34 year old woman, let alone her excessive baggage (a house full of children by husband #1 and leaving same) and doing it all in the eyes of the world where she plays out her neurosis multiple times. What a cluster f**k it was, and I do not believe his life was enriched by it and her obsession.

Mary Kay and Villi are tragic figures, some would say tragic yet romantic figures, public figures. They are our modern freak show. May Kay is more interesting than any Kardashian.

I wonder what sort of reception a 34 year old male teacher would have received, had he slept with a 12/13 year old 6th-grader from his class...

I imagine the same thing--loss of job, community condemnation, jail time. But if--when he got out--they married and stayed married...At some point, their "sins" should be forgiven, seems to me.

Serial predators and people who target prepubescent children are a whole different thing.

Bae- he wouldn't get an reception in WI because he would have gotten life in prison. We had a case where a Mom was having sex with 3 of her son's friends. They were 14-16. She got jail time but I can guarantee if the Dad would have been having sex with 3 of his daughter's friends he would be in prison for life. Double standard in this State.

I blame it on the Puritans. I blame everything on the Puritans.

No happy ending there. Another factoid: Vili's People, Pacific Islanders/Samoans, hold the distinction of having a disproportionately hign number of players in the NFL; the highest % of any race/ethnic group, relative to the total population of that ethnic group.

Exactly. Twelve years old. That's all kinds of messed up.

I feel bad for their kids that they are being raised by these parents.

I saw in the news today, about another comely lass who seduced a male student or two. She "dated" one of them for a year. Instead of going to trial, her attorney and the prosecutor worked out a "plea Bargain" agreement. I will let you kids know how light her sentence is. Maybe she will get probation and community service--working with wayward youths.

Well guess what---a news story today said that a middle-aged female school principal was arrested today after being found partially undressed in her car with a teen male student from her school. There was the stench of pot smoke, as well. This was in Florida, where it seems like everything weird happens on a regular basis.
