well i am looking around for a new place to live. the (maybe) good news is that i make about $1K a year above subsidized housing limited before child support. so that means on my own i would not qualify, of course there is not much out there. i think my goal of reducing my rental amount is unrealistic, although my ideas of what size place i could rent are pretty accurate. that means small. i got this place for the amount i did because it was 5 years ago and it really needs regular work. i am nervous about renting for the same i pay now, however i can move again in a year if none of my plans to earn more work out. i am putting money in savings just for that.
So now the process of seeing if my credit is recovered enough to qualify, week. i think my parents would co-sign if it got to that. i have the foreclosure and resulting bankruptcy but no other debt to speak of. i am really nervous about that, the cats seem to not be as big of an issue after all.
Here is what i don't understand, i saw an article that said a couple who have rented a house for 48 years now need to move. it is being sold and the new owner wants to fix it up. by current rental standards it could easily be rented for double with repairs. it is really really sad that they are leaving, however the daughter told the news station that they are being treated like squatters and unfairly. there are people who have purchased homes, that means they honestly believe they can stay as long as they want, and don't have them due to many factors such as the economy, job loss, house not being up to standard, etc. ( i just had a family who lost custody of children and one of the charges was the condition of the home). i have had to move many times, and i do understand it is really hard to find affordable housing, but a landlord who gives reasonable and fair notice, takes care of the place, etc. is not required to rent to the same person until death.
