Was not sure where to place this question. Any and all suggestions welcome.

As the years go by, one's body shape changes. At present, if I work bending over in the garden for some time, the bras that are great for uplifting and support do not provide retention and standing up, there is a serious wardrobe malfunction as you imagine.

Has anyone else found a solution that provides retention when bent over as well as support standing up?

Coobie bras. Particularly the "comfort bra". It stays put.

I absolutely love Coobie bras, but I'm a petite person in all dimensions. Not sure how valid the "one size fits all" concept is.

Definitely will fit a smaller person, but the "one size" fails when you get to larger sizes. They do have a fuller figure size that I wear, but someone more than say, a 38D would likely not be comfortable with these.

a well fitted properly sized bra should not ride up or move when standing, bending or doing aerobics. Ask me how I know.

I buy Bali simple bras online and have used the same model for over 20 years. They get old and stretched out due to washing and should be refitted and replaced on a regular basis. I am a D and must have good support to save my back and shoulders.

Wearing a bra when gardening? Really???????

I agree with Iris Lilies...my bras are only for being out in public, my yard and house are bra free zones and I am a chubby girl. I like Playtex 18 hour bras-not like but wear without terrible discomfort. I also have a fancy bra that is padded, makes me look buxom not fat! It has underwire. Vanity Fair. The wires aren't too bad.

does anyone remember billy barebutt? i never did convince him that bras were more than male domination or whatever he thought.

okay my disclaimer is that i wear a 36 DD, i should wear a 34 something monstrous but that requires special ordering and the best ones are from the UK, i always wear a bra when i leave the house, even just to garden. it is more comfortable and i don't even job without support. what you are looking for probably is called full coverage, it is different than the popular pushup and underwire styles (i love them myself) and are not as plunging. a bra that is not padded and plunging, such as a stretchy cotton bra, is often a good choice as well because it can hold in the top part of the breast and the softer breast tissue you have as you get older (or i have had forever which is common at my size) you can also find pretty supportive sports bras that do not make you look like tube chest, you know what i mean? i picked up one at target that is excellent. i don't know about coobie however.

i know the issues, trust me!

Well, I looked at Coobie and decided that my 40C would not be quite the fit I was looking for. I went to Walmart and had a look at what was available and met a customer who shared my spilling out when bending and said to try the sports bras. I found two from Playtex to try and they were on sale. They don't have the support of the Playtex 18 hour but will definitely avoid the wardrobe dysfunction when gardening.

I am reminded of the joke that DH and I laughed over for years.

Two older women (probably my age;)) watched a gorgeous young thing come into the doctor's waiting room wearing a low-cut top. She had the most beautiful rose with a short stem tattooed on one breast. The two older women looked at each other and chuckled a little to each other, "Little does she know that beautiful rose will become a long-stemmed rose."

I wear sports bras and while they do give a uniboob appearance, they are coverage.

but for gardening, I buy (at the thrift store of course!) t shirts that reveal nothing when I bend over. Few of my gardens are in a private place, most face out into a public street.

I have thought that if I moved into a town I would need to re think my gardening attire.

Well, I am experimenting wearing a Playtex sports bra and it definitely is less supporting and the resulting appearance is not great, even yucky.
Ah well, I will use the sports bras when gardening and the regular bras for the rest of the time. I will need to hit a source for some of IL's big T-shirts to wear over the sports bras. Have to be careful when decluttering not to throw the oversize shirts out.
