would you put in recycle bin or pay to be shredded? ( or spend an hour ripping and putting in cat box cleanings)

We do burn a fair number of personal papers so caution with valuable personal info is warranted. But what will an identify thief find useful? Your SSI number and what else?

At work ,when I was getting ready to retire, I cleaned out personnel docs many still in paper format. I ripped up the truly confidential info into tiny pieces when it was tied to employee name, iotherwise, I just ripped into 3 or 4 pieces.

okay, i don't want to spend time going through all this (and burning is a huge no-no in Colorado) so i will probably put them in recycling, maybe watch a movie and tear up but i have so many other things to do as well in moving.

I invested in a good shredder for the house awhile back because I prefer to shred all old financial documents and statements.

My brother rips them up and chews the small parts of the paper with his name and account number on it to obliterate it. True story.
