We have our own Wifi device. We live out in the country and there aren't many houses close. But in the past several days, the device says that there are 2 people using it. We have other computers in the house, but they are turned off. Is there any other reason for it saying there's 2 people using it? I'll keep an eye on the amount of data used, but it doesn't seem to be increasing more than usual.
Thanks.

Could you provide a screenshot? Because I'm not sure what you mean by "2 people are using it", and what you mean by wi fi device. If you mean a router, and you are using the router to automatically assign IP addresses (which is what most people do), the device assigns the address for a period of time. So 2 addresses may have been given out, even though the machines are currently turned off.

But I could be all wet, and you mean something different entirely, which is why a screenshot would be good. :)

You could go to the Wifi router/bridge's user interface, and look at the ARP table and check out the MAC addresses in use.

Thanks herbgeek and bae.......but I just figured it out! The other day I needed to plug my phone into our computer in order to do a download. I needed to change the phone setting to accept our own WiFi device. Well, I don't need that except for big downloads, so I went in and turned it off on my phone, and the "2" went back to "1". Mystery solved!
