wow, i am at the point where i am hiring help. it is very okay. last weekend we had downpours all the time so i drove around boxes for a couple days before i could unload. so i will wait a little longer for my couch and pay for my sanity. simple living is about making choices, not always being the cheapest (but i am having little twinges until i see my raise paycheck)

tomorrow (friday) the lawn guy ($50 for super high grass) and the junk hauler ($150-$200 for everything in one trip)
Monday the mover, i pay hourly for 2 moving guys, i have 3 dressers, 2 beds, a couple other furniture items and probably no boxes. i am making decent progress on the boxes but at some point it will be better to have it moved based on gas and time driving around

And Saturday of course is when my son goes to prom, a really good reason to not spend the entire weekend moving ourselves.

Save some money and hassle by having things like the beds disassembled, and the drawers out of the dressers, etc. When my family moved years ago, all within the same month (parents and two siblings), we got a discount for having the stuff so prepared and it took them a lot less time.
Moving all three families in one month, made me never want to move.

wow 3 families, good idea. i hadn't thought about those things and i can get super ready. i really just want them to move a few larger items.

Can you keep receipts for these man-services? Because, it will clearly demonstrate the very high cost of men. Then, at some point, you can present them to your employer as justification for a salary increase. Hopefully, that will help you some.

oh ha! that is assuming the movers and junker and mowers are men. there are men doing my job of keeping wee people safe and entertained and from hurting each other.
