Every May 15th, for the past 4 years, I take a break from all social media- FB, Instagram, pinterest, websites, forums, etc...Last year I made it to August 15th without too much of a problem, only getting on these places a few times. This year, my goal is September 15th.

I do this to focus on my family and the wonderful weather we have here in Texas. I am an outside girl and we go to the waterparks, beach, hiking trails, outdoor music, and day trips around the local area. I am also focusing on really pushing my health goals to the forefront. I am trying to learn Spanish as well. I usually clean out the house but since I am 99% done, I am going to do a good deep cleaning and call it a day.

So I hope y'all enjoy the weather, wherever y'all may live and I look forward to seeing what has been going on in September. :)

I've thought about limiting my social media, or internet altogether, from time to time. Usually I think in terms of things like not going online at all on sundays just so I have one day a week of calm and tranquility. The idea of months of not going on social media is probably not realistic for me. However, this summer we're going to Provincetown for a week with a bunch of friends. I'm thinking about avoiding the internet the whole time I'm there. It'll be a rare situation where many of the people I'm usually interacting with via facebook and whatnot will all be with me. (We're all staying in two houses just a block apart.) The friends that aren't there will see the updates that others post with me tagged in photos and such, so it won't seem such a hardship. I may make an exception for using text messages since undoubtedly i'll get texts saying "we're at xyz, come meet us" but that would be it. If I bring a few books to keep me occupied I probably won't even miss going online. And not reading the news for a week will undoubtedly make me a happier person.
