I have an 5S apple iphone.
I use a passcode that is set for "immediate".......but when my phone rings, of course it shows up and lets me answer it, even if the passcode hasn't been done. But lately, sometimes this works, and sometimes the phone rings, and it's a totally black screen. I have to quickly put in my passcode, go to the phone icon, and it shows my recent calls, but I can never figure it out in time to answer. I then look up "missed call" and call them back. Why is my screen staying black sometimes when a call comes in?
Any ideas?
Thanks.

No real ideas at this point, but a couple of things to try that might help. One, how often do you shut the phone off? I notice that sometimes my iPhone will do something squirrelly like not start the Maps app or not let me dial out. I shut it down, wait a minute or two, and then switch it on and life is grand again.

Another thing to try is a "hard reset" (not to worry; it's not data-lethal): Hold the sleep/wake button and the Home button at the same time until the screen goes black. Wait until the silver Apple logo appears (this may take several seconds). Then you can let go. Use as you would normally.

If those don't work, I would investigate more specific issues.

Thanks Steve!
Forgetting that it's just a small computer, I forgot about rebooting, to get through some problems. So I shut it off, and then back on, and it works again!
Thanks!
