We've never had such a wet spring. My garden is waaaaaay behind and struggling to not die because of it being wet ALL THE TIME. I think we've had about 10" of rain this month. This has never happened here before.

It makes me sad. My garden is so important to me.....for lots of reasons. Nothing much I can do about it though. At least we won't starve if I don't get much from the garden. Having 35 acres of woods/fields, it's neat to see what things appreciate "too much" rain, while others don't. My young white pines are rotting at the top. Red Admiral butterflies are in record numbers. Invasive vines are growing like crazy. Wild raspberries and mulberries are better and more in numbers than ever. The "weeds" and grasses in the field are growing tall. Woodcocks are showing up a lot, because of the weeds growing tall. I guess it's that yin-yang thing. Gotta just go with the flow...........

We're in exactly the same boat. Right now we're 2.5" short of our average ANNUAL rainfall. Everything is muddy, moldy, soggy... Our garden is also about a month behind which is really sad because I got it in the ground more than 2 weeks early with no late frost at all. Everything but the vines and the crabgrass is struggling. Those two are doing just fine.

Just the opposite here in the PNW. We have had a drier and hotter than usual spring, with triple digit temperatures due to arrive shortly. Fire season has already begun, about a month early, and I have some concerns about fire since we are surrounded by trees. Many parts of the PNW are already facing droughts. I think about all the times I've complained about the rainy spring weather and the fact that we can get at least some rain any month of the year, including in the summer. Now that seems like the "good old days," as there's no relief in sight at this time.

The top reading on our shaded back porch thermometer has been 110 or more for over 10 days now, with a high of 117. No rain but it's cloudy today, I can only hope the monsoons get here soon.
