View Full Version : Pics on our "Serengeti Plain".
LOL! About 2 months ago, DH mowed a few new trails through our fields. Last night, on our nightly cart ride, we saw this. It was a deer in the field, and a redwinged blackbird was very ticked off with it. It must have been too close to it's nest (in the weeds). It kept attacking the deer. It sort of reminded me of the birds that sit on the heads of hippos. The deer was not bothered in the least by it, and eventually just casually walked away. Our rides have been so much fun lately.........deer, bunnies, woodcocks and all other sorts of birds, dragonflies, hawks, turkey vultures, great blue herons. I told DH....."This is like being on a safari!" :)

I love that 3rd one where the doe is squinty eyed and straight on to the camera. Very good capture.

Nice shots, Bae!
Thanks, I was trying to sneak up on that goose when it tripped over the Harrier and flushed it, I'm amazed I managed to catch it :-)

Could it be possible that the goose is actually a swan?

Yes, I just can't type before coffee. The swans were out in force all over the Skagit and Samish river wetlands, it was amazing!
Beautiful! What a great restoration project!

Beautiful! Great shots!
This *huge* moth landed out in my deck-garden just now. Wingspan must be 6-7". Body is immense.

Probably not a Godzilla sidekick, but according to someone on Pinterest it may be a Ceanothus Silk Moth - Hyalophora euryalus
