I'm a mere piker at just over 1,500 posts here. Then I discovered that you can sort the member list by number of posts and found that Iris Lilies is the top poster with well over 6,000. I think she deserves a blue ribbon for her efforts.

Now if you combine the post count of Iris Lillies with Iris Lilly....

Er, jp, this isn't exactly something I'm proud of. Posting many times isn't a virtue.

When I set up my "iris lilies" account I artificially jacked up the counter to be approximately the same number of posts as my original account. I have two accounts because the moderator account allows me to edit other people's posts, and I don't want to do that in error (have done it a few times.)

I don't really know how many posts I've made, but it's a lot. Too many. Get a life, iris! ha ha

Also, this thread makes me think of Mrs. M who seemed to value quantity of posts. I never agreed with her that this site should have some kind of minimum traffic each day.

I never saw any particular value in tracking the number of posts. I think Mrs. M added 20 or 30 to her overall count while explaining to me how silly it would be to do away with that feature. Regarding current members all I can say is that some must have less weeds in their flower gardens than I do. :D

Well my excuse today is that it's raining outside. Yep, that's my story and I'll sticking to it.

This thread reminds me of another forum I visit where someone posted an extended rant about the practice of posting "+1" when you were in agreement. They complained that it added nothing to the discussion, but simple added to counts. As you can imagine, this yielded dozens of "+1"s from the wiseacre community.

An editorial from the same source about emoticons yielded perhaps equally predictable results.
