I have almost finished my Christmas shopping and want to start wrapping but I don't have enough paper. I didn't buy any last year because I had a pretty good amount, but its about all gone and I need more.
I do have a few bags but need more.

Geez--that amount of preparedness is beyond my comprehension! It's not enough that you have finished shopping--you feel you need to get them wrapped--NOW? Wow. (Not criticizing--I'm just a last-minute person and I have a hard time processing your kind of mindset! :)

Why not just buy red, green, silver, gold plain wrapping paper. Then you can buy Christmas-themed ribbon when Michael's has it stocked (probably in late October/early November).

There are 3,000 items on eBay of this paper.

but an alternative isn't look, for solid colors in Red or silver, they are easy to find in stores. Use a green bow and you have Christmas wrapping.

Haha I see Catherine's idea is the same as mine.

I've seen gifts wrapped in brown paper grocery bags turned inside out, then prettied up with whatever you like. Pretty, old fashioned

Rolls of silver are all I ever buy - dress it up with gold ribbons and it's great for anniversaries, use white ribbon - weddings, bright ribbons - birthdays, navy blue - Christmas (personal choice....navy goes well with my living room decor :) ).

Goodwill is having a Christmas in July sale so among the decorations they're also selling things like rolls of wrapping paper pretty cheap.

Inquire on your local FreeCycle, someone is bound to have paper they would like to move out of their space.

Really great ideas, all.
I didn't set out to buy Christmas presents but I carry a little Christmas money with me when I go shopping 'just in case' I run across something and brother did I run across something.

Seems like everywhere I went this summer I found really nice things on sale that would be perfect for some of my kids or grandkids. Really great bargins and coupled with a coupon, the prices were amazing!

I am hosting the big family Christmas party (around 25 to 30) this year and with the decorations and shopping and cooking, having most or all of my presents bought and wrapped will be a big help.

The Dollar Tree stores around here have gold and silver and red ones. Also, Hobby Lobby has all their Christmas stuff out already; I'm sure they have paper too.

I saw some pretty christmas wrap where they took Brown craft paper, cut an Apple down the middle horizontally, stamped it on the paper and then painted over it with what looked like poster paint, to look like the inside of the cut Apple. That would be really nice tied with a red bow. Then I saw in the same book where they took Brown paper bags, creased the top about four inches down, then painted a simple house on the front with shutters, Windows and door and then the flap gets turned to the picture side and you paint it black to become the roof. Not sure how it was sealed down though. It was cute with all of the different sized bags and different color house features, when lined up, it looked like a village...Just some thoughts...christine

I am thinking about wrapping some in brown and some in gold or silver and leaving them plain will work for now. Later, I will only need to add trim before I put them under the tree. It will be a great time saver for me.

Thanks to all for some good ideas. I don't think I would have thought to use brown paper, but I can really see how that could work well.
