View Full Version : Website Recommendations?
I'm looking for good websites on a couple of topics and wonder if anyone here has any recommendations.
1. Cat Forum - one of my kittens is exhibiting some aggressive behavior and I want to find out if it's a normal phase that he will outgrow or if I need to be worried about it. There are a number of cat sites but it's hard to tell which are good ones and which are sponsored for profit.
2. DIY Forum - I'd like to do some projects but need some advice and suggestions; for example, I want to make a footboard for a twin bed (somehow we lost the one that came with the bed!) and wondering what tools dh might need in order to cut the groove in the wood for the long metal supports. *Hey, Iris Lilies - maybe your handy hubby knows this one!
:thankyou:

i can ask DH, but he's going to want more information.
YouTube has a zillion tutorial videos for every subject under the sun.
watergoddess, I can't help you with the cats. But for DIY, I've had very good experience with the ehow.com Web sites. I've also subscribed to Family Handyman magazine over the last couple of years, and have appreciated their approach and variety of projects. I believe their Web site may have tutorials and a forum which would be helpful.

Input "help with aggressive kitten" into Google and got very helpful advice. I only really worry if they are trying to sell a product. There are enough helpful sites on this topic that you should get good info. Dont know where you live but in our city, the humane society provides advice on pet problems and we have a bunch of cat rescues that also could provide assistance. Check those resources in your own location for local help.

Any woodworking forum. First you do need to determine what style of bed joinery hardware you have. Generally you will need a mortise for bed hardware, and that can be made with a drill and bits, and chisel, or a router and bit and a chisel, or just a knife and chisel and patience. BUT the hardware will make a difference:
http://www.rockler.com/hardware/project-hardware/bed-hardware?p=1
That will show you several styles of bed connecting hardware, and how similar they are, but not the same.
Sweetana - thank you! Your comment about rescue reminded me that one of my neighbors mentioned she volunteers with cat rescue and I've put in a call to her for some help. Based on the ASPCA description my kitten is showing dominance aggression - I did read the post before and I didn't see how to address the issue other than through a behaviorist. I'm thinking this issue is common enough. I know many dogs go through a teenage phase that tests many dog owners. And while I'm pretty comfortable with dogs, I'm new at cats. :)
TooMuchStuff - this is exactly the kind of help I was looking for! I had no idea there was different systems. I will begin my examinations and problem solving :D. Thank you.
Several people have mentioned youtube videos, and I don't want it to seem like I don't take note of that advice. It's just that youtube has so much stuff, you really have to spend a lot of time weeding through the good and the "so basic as to be useless" stuff to get to the good ones. I find it exhausting and depressing.
Thank you again to everyone who responded!

Hi Watergoddess,
My husband has done a lot of DIY at home and often goes to the DIY network webpage to find out information. I don't know if it is a link from there but I can find out more if you are interested....
