In watching all the refugees pouring into europe, I do have the question as to why they all look so good. They interviewed a female refugee on the news, and she was perfectly dressed and even had on make-up. How can this be?
Then I thought..........what if this is ISIS's way of flooding tons of their followers into europe? I know this sounds totally ridiculous and paranoid.......but I wouldn't put anything past ISIS and their kind.

I know I keep asking this........but how can these refugees look so good, clean, well dressed, well fed, etc. after escaping from such a horrible life, and the trek being so dangerous and long?
Something just feels "not right" to me with this.

Edited to add: Alan, you can move this to the other refugee thread if you think it's more appropriate to add it to there.

Cathy, I tried to see what you are seeing but when I Googled images of Syrian refugees and compared them to Jewish refugees in WWII, I could see absolutely no difference as far as kempt or unkempt, etc. So I don't see what you are seeing, all these well dressed people--I see little children, hollow eyed women, the same cast of characters as WWII. And we know they were legitimate refugees and in danger of losing their lives at any moment.

I tried to post images side by side here because it was striking, how similar, but I couldn't figure out how to do it.

I used to have this poster over my desk. I think it explains nicely how you cannot tell who is a a refugee based on appearances.

Being clean and wearing make-up might only mean that someone gave the woman a chance to clean up and loaned her some make-up after she arrived somewhere safe.

Here's an interesting bit from the other side of the picture--the volunteers in Greece and other countries who are stepping up where their governments are still trying to figure out what to do: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-34130639

As for the possibility of ISIS followers hidden in the refugee stream? Sure, it's a possibility. But again, that's why the governments need to step up and deal with the situation.

As for being well-fed? Some Syrian refugees have been in refugee camps in Turkey for years. They are in camps. They have little hope for the future there, so they are attempting to leave. So they've been well-fed and have a shorter journey to Greece than some other refugees. (Turkey has taken in over a million Syrian refugees since 2011. The situation is starting to cause problems in Turkey.)
