Argh, i just put my daughter's cat in the bathroom for the day.
old cat M has been throwing up daily so we saw the vet and are giving him different food. that means putting him in one room and closing the door for 30 minutes twice a day to keep them all from getting into each others food. it already seems to be making a difference.
Little cat C and S (about 2 year old siblings) get regular food and the run of the rest of the apartment. But S can't stand a closed door. He scratches the carpet outside the door in 5 minutes even if he never goes into that room. My son and i leave our bedroom doors cracked open all the time so it hasn't been an issue but i would like to close my door sometimes. i can't stay here 30 minutes to keep him away from the door and all the cats are fine with food/water/litter access for even several hours. i just threw him in the bathroom (no carpet to destroy). Meanwhile any tips on training the stupid cat so we can shut a door sometimes. My daughter has always had an issue with him but he was an only cat (and no, she can't take him back for awhile, she is doing a great job after rehab so this is not much to do to support her).
