He has been applying for jobs, and his girlfriend too, he was told by the local grocery store that he had a job. He told me exactly what they said and then they didn't get back to him. Sometimes it takes a few days to get a schedule together so it didn't seem odd. then he called today to get his schedule and they said he really didn't have a job. i am so sad and frustrated and angry. it is really hard to watch him go this long without a job, applying every day, now not really getting up in the morning or doing much. i don't have a lot of spending money to give him, with years of school issues, anxiety, etc. i am watching him stay just above depression with this. How can it not be hard when no one wants to give him a job? i just wish i could do something and i can't.

i am not sure that it is part of the issue but so many people are moving into colorado, legal pot is making the state boom. the rents are going through the roof, roads crowded, job market is weird,

argh, just a vent really, so close to things improving for him,

Getting jerked around is part of job hunting. Although offered a job and not given one is the most extreme I've ever heard, it's bad. I mean yes sitting by the phone waiting for a scheduled phone interview that never comes, done that (ha the same company kept doing it until I didn't bother to be around when they finally did call) and similar. Is the job market actually really good anywhere?

I guess the standard advice is to volunteer etc. so you can find something to do, but that doesn't help much if you cant quell financial anxiety.

yeah, he is getting used to not being called back, even after 2 interviews, and not getting answers, all that. He is just starting out for basically a first job. Someone who will basically take anything i would hope would get something. thank you for validating that this one stinks.

i am requiring both T and his girlfriend apply for jobs in my school district. i know we are looking for people and we bumped the starting pay rate so even a part time jobs are okay. So hopefully that will be a good chance,

so now king soopers called T and told him to come in today with his birth certificate. we have no idea if they will start training him or what but it sounds like he really got the job. Now it is too late for me to do a car thing for him while i am gone ( i have a 10 day retreat and told him i would set up some type of transportation if he had a job, i leave Friday morning and didn't set that up ). i did talk to his dad and dad will be prepared to rent a car if needed to support him until i get back, then we are looking at a cheap motorcycle as a first way to get around, and the bus isn't bad.

Hopefully the confusion is just with the hiring person and not the whole store, i shop there and everyone seems very nice and happy.
