3/4 of the year is gone and for me (and my household) that's 900 items gone. I'm looking forward to this last sprint.

Ok, I'm back. Did nothing for September, maybe I can get caught up this month.
Today:
10- big stack of (new) greeting cards to a local Girl Scout troop; I'll count this as 10 (I love trolling freecycle and NextDoor to see what people are looking for!)
2- new phone books delivered last week- they come twice a year now! to the recycle bin
8- magazines dropped off to the hospital
1- pair curtains
3- pillow covers
1- clock
3- Tupperware - all to the animal shelter rummage sale
2- pairs sandals, worn out, to the trash
Subtotal: 30

OH, I almost forgot- things from Friday, that was October already!
To school:
4 - posters
16- books (I really am going to retire this year, so all the school stuff gets used or given away. I have more to take)
New subtotal: 50
I'm committing:
14-Yesterday, to my artistic cousin: all my watercolor brushes and pallets. She was delighted. Me too.
This coming weekend: my closet. Should get to 40 at least.
1.-2. Two larger old stereo systems that DH had been keeping for ages. (as big as they are they should count for more than 2)

Garage sale this week-end. We'll see.
3-10 magazines
11 checkbook wallet
12-15 pillow cases (using them to bag this months goodies for the thrift store)
16 shoes
17 one lone shoe...apparently it's mate got donated in a previous month (oops!) wonder if the thrift shop keeps a box of lonely shoes hoping the mate will show up later.
18-20 2 large muffin tins and an extra cookie sheet
21-22 2 pair of jeans
I had a plan to just do a quick pass through my 4-year-old daughter's books which are all over the house, with the goal of weeding out 20. Well I got rid of 61 - to a friend who has a 20-month-old foster child arriving soon - and we still don't have shelf space for the remaining books! I can't believe we have so many more than we have space for. Sigh. My hope is to do a quick pass through my and my SO's books next, and maybe that will free up a shelf or two for the books of my daughter's that are still in stacks at various places around the house.
I also took another 29 items to Goodwill, so the total for this month so far is 90. I'd really like to get well over a hundred this month to make up for the many months this year when I didn't get rid of anything. We'll see.

I'm readying another pile of discards. So far, I have four garbage-sized bags of clothes, a lamp, a crystal ball (!), a bag of books, and a couple of boxes of miscellany. Hope it all fits into the car. And then I start all over again!

I'm doing kind of a modified Kondo (full disclosure, I did not read the book). I think "sparking joy" is a bit much to ask of most objects and is really only an appropriate response for a select few things, like art, perhaps. I am asking myself questions along the lines of:
Do I like it?
Do I use/wear it?
Do I have other things that fill the same purpose/niche?
If I'm saving it for "just in case," how likely am I to ever really use or need it?
I sent 2 boxes and 2 bags to the Salvation Army last week. I'm starting on another box.

Took three bags of misc to the thrift store, have two boxes of books to go to the library sale tomorrow and several bags of newspapers for our animal clinic that requested them.
Plan on a weekend binge for hubby and I to list our ebay items and what is not done is going to be gotten rid of other ways. Been in the dining room for over 6 months.
Will read the Japanese book on tidying once more before taking it back to the library and make another pass thru the clothes. Going to be a busy October.
ugh, our continuing good weather is precluding me from my decluttering aspirations!! I can't believe I'm saying this, but, come on, rain already!
Previous total was 90.
Took a pair of kids' shorts (too small for my kid) and a package of swim diapers to a friend who has a 9-month old. Also returned a tupperware of hers. New total: 93.
Yesterday I took 4 bags of clothing from my closet and drawers to the local thrift. So much room in my drawers!! Makes it easier to find things and compose my daily attire.

Excellent! 4 bags gone creates a lot of space.
My son brought over 3 bags of clothes that he didn't need so my other son, my daughter and I went through them. I got a shirt, my daughter took 3 sport oats for her SO, my younger son took a bag of shirts and the rest went to Goodwill along with 2 sweaters my husband gave away. We have family pass along days every few months. My children are 41,38 and 34.

Today we're holding our 4th yard sale since we decided to move last year. We had sold at least 50 items by the time I left for work at 10:30. I hope some of the big items go.
Anyhow, it's all going to Goodwill at the end of the day, so that's about 300 individual items (guessing. Lots of unmatched silverware, candles, toys - could be a lot more.)
Yay! I’m so excited to have stumbled upon this thread. I’ve been doing a massive declutter and was running out of steam. Here I find new inspiration. I’ve gotten rid of at least 100 things this month. Last week a car load to the thrift store, 13 items to the consignment store, a car load of clothes to a friend’s mother. Today four bags of miscellaneous in the trash. I love the idea of quantifying to measure progress. I’ll keep count moving forward to keep me going.

Hadn't planned any more decluttering today, but my daughter and grandson stopped by "to see what's in the Halloween boxes that we can use" LOL! They didn't want the plastic boxes so I dumped both boxes into big plastic bags. I'm counting that as 20 (I'm sure way more items than that, LOL)
Grand total for October: 110, 100 per month plus 10 for the tenth month of the year. ;)
