I've never used eye cream but lately the skin around my eyes is very dry, thin, and crinkly. It also started to get easily irritated with the cleanser I'm using for my rosacea. I can't really stop using my cleanser because I'm getting excellent results with it, but it looks like I do need to protect the skin around the eyes more.

Do you guys have any cream that you've had good results with?

I prefer fragrance-free and hypoallergenic if possible, as I have very sensitive skin.

I'm kind of a fan of the Olay Regenerist line. I use the eye creme around my lips as well (don't want lip lines and I can't get out of the habit of using a straw everyday in my water glass). They also have a line filler that I like using on my forehead lines. The face serum is light. I honestly don't know if they are fragrance-free or hypoallergenic though I've never noticed any strong smells and that would bother me.

I've tried many brands and find the generic version at Rite Aid or Walgreens works just as well. I always make certain to buy hypoallergenic and fragrance-free.

A little Olive Oil at night might be an alternative.

When I first read this, I thought the title said, "Your favorite ice cream"! Shows you where my mind is. I've been using olive oil that I buy in bulk at Costco. I used to use peanut oil, which I think I prefer. The olive oil stings a little when I take off my eye make-up with it.

I was about to reply with Chocolate Mint Chip until I reread the title!

I use Neutrogena. It seems a little heavy, but I guess that's what is needed for that area.

I use coconut oil as well - I second the comment about a little going a long way! I use a clean spoon to get it out, so I don't contaminate the container with germs. This am, I got a little dab to do the area under my nostrils (allergy season) and ended up with enough for there, both hands and my feet! Just a little warmth and that stuff sure can spread.

I like castor oil, but coconut oil will do in a pinch.
Castor oil is said to promote hair growth, and my hypothyroid eyebrows need all the help they can get.

Hi awakened, if you are not using extra virgin olive oil, which is the first pressing, the rest is extracted with chemicals. Just thought this could be a problem? Chris

I had a Mary Kay eye cream I really liked (http://www.marykay.com/en-US/TimeWise-Repair-Volu-Firm-Eye-Renewal-Cream/100905.partId?v33=You+May+Also+Like). I ran out, but it's a little pricey ($42), so I may see what you guys say.

Another long-time coconut oil user - topically and internally. No wrinkles - I'll be 63 next month. BTW if you are having problems with dry skin, consume more coconut oil, not just use it topically. Take it orally to help keep skin soft, minimize wrinkles, and help heal eczema and similar skin problems. If you are consuming a lot of unsaturated fats, you may want to try to avoid them. Unsaturated fats (common vegetable oils) are usually rancid (rancid oils don't have to small rancid to be rancid - if they smell rancid they've been that way a long time). Rancid vegetable oils are full of free-radicals, which is the reason I haven't used vegetables oils for over 30-years. "Studies performed by several plastic surgeons during the 1980's found that women who consumed lots of vegetable oil had far more wrinkles and looked much older than women who consumed saturated fats." Good fats for properly moist skin include butter, ghee, lard, coconut oil, olive oil, and small amounts of flax oil (which I would only suggest getting from eating freshly-milled flax seeds).

I use good old NIVEA, the moisturizing version. There was an article awhile back about a woman using Nivea on half her face and some fancy cream on the other half for a month. Nivea outperformed the fancy stuff.

Since I have coconut oil on hand, I used some last night and this morning and I already see and feel a difference. The skin is much softer and smoother.

I'm also going to pick up some Olay eye cream to keep in my purse and to see if it will help with the post-cleanser irritation.

Thanks everyone! The skin around my eyes feels so nice I'm even contemplating using the coconut oil as a face moisturizer even though my face is more oily than dry. The coconut oil doesn't feel greasy at all. Just soft.

Olive Oil from Italy and California are 100% olive oil. Read the label carefully. Coconut oil? Can I get that at the regular grocery store? You'd certainly smell nice too.

If it's ice cream not eye cream, the very best best of the best gelato is Nocciola. I am not sure it's available in USA. I had it in Sicily this year and it is to die for. It's vanilla with Nutella and hazelnut whipped in. Maybe eat that as you put on the eye cream

Hi lessisbest,
How much oil do you consume? And how often? I tried to have some this morning and couldn't do it! :0! I'm sure it's all psychological. Do you take it by itself? I was thinking of mixing it with raw honey to make it easier to take.

I suspect this would also be good for inflammation of the joints so I'd really like to try it.

:thankyou:

I use extra virgin olive oil, Tussiemussies. I'm going to try the coconut oil. I have some of that, too.

Sorry I didn't see your question sooner....

We try to keep fat (all fat) to between 25-30% of our diet, and coconut oil is our primary fat source for cooking/frying/baking. In the winter I'll make a hot cocoa mixture and will add a tablespoon of MCT Oil (NOW brand - which is made from coconut/palm kernel oil), and if I'm out of MCT Oil, I'll just add a "blob" of regular coconut oil. MCT Oil is thermogenic - "foods may help increase metabolism and calorie burning by enhancing thermogenesis, a process in which the body burns calories to utilize the foods you have just eaten, converting those calories to heat."

You can mix coconut oil with honey, agave nectar, maple syrup, palm syrup... or a nut butter and use it as a spread, which is what vegans often use instead of butter.

I like eye cream for my lips, too. It absorbs better than any oil or shea butter I have tried.

I wish someone would create more affordable eye cream and sell it in bulk - like 8 oz a tub. $8 - $20 per ounce is just nuts. Anyone know of a more affordable generic unscented source? I'd love to learn about one!

I use Fruit of the Earth Cocoa Butter with Aloe & Vitamin E skin care cream. I also use it on my neck to ensure I don't get a "turkey neck".

I've been using coconut oil as cold cream since reading this thread. I tissue off my make-up, then put the rest on my face and around my eyes before bed. I really like it. (I bought it in bulk to make soap and deodorant.)
