and people are coming, not sure how many but some. I am super nervous but in a good way. I haven't had people to my place very much. For years it was because I never know if one of my kids would be in a not-so-stable place, but things are okay now.

Okay little tiny social life. :0!

Enjoy. Potlucks are great because there isn't as much pressure to make to make the super impressive entire meal. You can concentrate on visiting and enjoying a variety of food....unless everyone brings greenbeans.

Good for you! It's hard to start entertaining when you haven't for a long time. A casual potluck sounds like the perfect start.
When I'm having a party I ask a good friend to come a little early. It keeps me from thinking "no one is going to show up!" and she usually has good ideas about how to set things up. Have a great time!

Just beware of the butt scratchers. My husband was at a potluck barbecue and saw a lady (who apparently thought she was unseen in a corner) reach into her pants and scratch her butt. She then walked away and reached in to the potato chip bowl and grabbed a handful. My husband was grossed out and told the host who promptly walked over and took the bowl and dumped it...hahaha. Seriously though, potlucks are great. We have had many over the yrs and it is such a relaxing informal way to get friends together. No one feels pressured and it is just a good time to hang out with each other. Have a great time!

LOL. You're safe as long as you are the first in line. I also worked with a co worker who would lick the serving spoon and put it back in the dish after she took what she wanted. You are mostly there for the friends and not the food anyways :) I always am a little concerned about the preparation of the food at their homes too. Did their kitty just jump out of the kitty box and walk across the dishes they are using? Did they pick their nose while cooking? You know, random things like that. But that's just me, I am paranoid over stupid stuff.

It turned out great! I had 4 people which is just my speed (any more and I would have to buy chairs). We had great food. People stayed a couple hours, like between 2 and 3, and then naturally left. It is great to have an introverted group in general. I made up a red lentil dal that was very tasty, there was another Indian dish, some chicken, tofu and a salad. The one guy I keep missing that runs a sitting group finally made it to something! He is very interesting and I have been wanting to ask about his master's degree program.

Okay, I survived and even had a good time.
