We were stuck there for a LONG time; every single person that passed us offered to help, but we told them the realtor was on the way. She got lost. Apparently the "road" we took is seldom used. We tried to dig out with a piece of old board we found in the woods. I ended up walking up to the place.... not too terribly long a walk. Passed a couple houses. I tried to identify all the tracks of the various critters in the sand "road" as I was walking. Deer, bears, wild panthers, wild pigs, raccoons. When I finally reached the place, I looked around. No house in sight. Dead quiet. 1 acre of land, a 10 year old 1600+ square foot mobile home in very good shape. Just needs paint touch ups, appliances, and the well inspected etc. and to be cleaned. $33,000. About 7 miles to the town library and grocery store. There is a good other road in that we would not have gotten stuck on. Property taxes about $600 a year. This place is completely surrounded by acres and acres of state forest lands and private forests. I was a hard choice, we had the cash but turned it down. A lost chance, that I kind of regret in a way. I am now just too citified. I would miss my dsl high speed internet, my like-minded friends, walking/taking bus/riding bike to the many ethnic grocery stores, etc.

It sounds like it will be perfect for someone else and I imagine by leaving that one, you'll find the perfect one for you.

Hope you find a good "lifestyle fit" in your search.

Dh and I once slipped off the edge of a driveway and were hung on the culvert. When we called AAA, it went back to our home state and they didn't provide a local number for towing. (Sigh). We called our neighbor to see if he could give us some towing company numbers. He said he could get us out - where were we? I told him I didn't know the street name, as I'd walked to a crossroad and there was no sign. I could describe how we'd gotten there. Just a few minutes later, someone unknown to us drove up with a tractor and pulled us out. Good neighbors are great resources!
